Bob any idea on the type of coating those Gerbers got , IE powder coated ,average paint , TiNi
Thanks.
See this post from Bob a while a go :)

Thanks Ryan , sounds like run of the mill spray paint. I wonder how scratch resistant they were  Maybe Bob could take one out of it's snap lock bag & give it a scratch test >:D :P :D :D

Sorry, once they've been archived they can't ever come out of the vault again. :( :D

Heh heh, the color seems to be a baked-on paint of some sort. It has a (somewhat) hard and glossy finish. I think it stands up to scratches reasonably well.  Chipping however is a different story. I've seen many a colored Gerber that had 50% or more of its paint missing. :-\

These are definitely not going to stay pretty if they are users. :-\

That's sad, back when they had the build your own tool I wanted a green tool with all black impliments and plier head. Course I didn't want to spend as much money as they wanted to charge for it. Ohh well, water under the bridge, maybe Vic or Wenger should do a build your own??  :pok:

I used to own a Pulse back around 2000/2001 and have missed it after my dumb a$$ traded it for another tool (I was a tool junkie that needed his fix), up till recent I have wanted to get my hands on one but kept putting it off. Thanks to GadgetGuy I now have new Pulse with an original nylon sheath (the one with the tool logo in red and not the yellow ones we see now). Talk about a throw back, it reminds me of when I met my wife and how darn useful the Pulse was for everyday projects. In my eyes the Pulse is better than any one of the new tools that Leatherman now makes, it may not be the hottest thing out from the company but it's darn near perfect in my eyes. I have gotten all kinds of tools I have been wanting and nothing seemed to fill the void, now I can say I feel whole again and I am truly content. The Pulse has finally come home  :P

Hit the post 2 days ago  :gimme: , hopefully next week  :ahhh

BTW Tinny Australia Post is now doing 'safe drop off'(massive oxymoron) I came home from work to find the TiNi/GOLDEN SOG I bought from Bob sitting underneath my carport 2 meters from the front door  >:( not happy , safe my arse.
I complained to OZ post & they said it is a Australia wide policy & is at the contractors/postman's discretion. If you are not home they will dump your parcel as long as it can not be seen from the road. I asked what happens if your parcel gets nicked & they said $50aus compensation is available   >:(.I then said this 'policy' gives me nothing & is solely a cost saving measure. I am now telling sellers to put in red & underlined "Not For Safe Drop Off" underneath my address on parcels (as per oz post). I asked who do I make a formal complaint to about this new policy , waiting for a call back  ::) ::) .
I found out about 'Safe Drop Off' after Dennis posted the Ti  :ahhh :ahhh

Our postman used to do that and would put a card through the door telling you where they hid it.  I personally liked it as it saved me a lot of time and effort, but then again I did live in a nice neighbourhood at the time (not anymore though).  It doesn't seem to happen anymore though.
I'm back!!

We live in a really safe neighbor hood . I do not mind going to pick up parcels, are PO is only 5mins away & they have extended opening hours. I would be massively ticked off if my Ti got left near the front door & got nicked. Too expensive to leave lying around I reckon .

That's a shame Multimat...luckily nothing got nicked :) How's that Tini Sog Going?

Hopefully you can share us some pictures on your Ti :P

I live in a reasonably safe neighbourhood and i doubt anything would be stolen...maybe that's because I live in the middle of nowhere :D

Our postman used to do that and would put a card through the door telling you where they hid it.

Was that ever in the form of a bounty/treasure hunt? Say, three steps to the east, two to the north, cough at the coconut, shake the bush, and cry "my precious"? :D

I did have a Camo surge but it did'nt stay around long.  I'm not a surge fan.    If somebody offers me something good to trade the Blast probably won't be around long either :D.   But the Charges are staying 8)

Lol.

For the pic, I used a black non-reflective sheet and a bit of lighting. Quite pleased with that actually.

And I love these Bear tools. They represent everything I like (and Vix Spirit lovers hate) in a multitool. Nothing fancy, solid, "honest" and built like tanks. The only thing I'd be worried about if I dropped one of these babies, is what it landed on :D

Surge? Pah - these are "big" - even the little ones ;)

I used to come here a lot.
