You’ve inspired me to take a few pics of my own :D

The silver OC without keyring is actually an electrician but included as the tang is dated (98)

Of the two Wenger Soldats, one is dated (04) the other undated

My little collection of Pioneers. I regularly carry the red OC, blue, and Orchid with the lanyard. The other 2 are put away in their boxes but I'm thinking of adding the champagne one to my regular rotation.

It has become my go-to every day. Funny thing is I only carried celidor handled SAKs for 40 years without seeing any need for an Alox, but the Pioneer made me a convert.

Awesome!

I’ve been carrying a pioneer for almost 13 years now. Lately I’ve been wondering if a cellidor model would be more useful, like the new cellidor companion. Kind of a quintessential dad SAK. Though  haven’t been able to quite bring myself to switch.

I saw some nice colors in this thread.  :like: Mine's in boring, regular silver, just receintly cleaned, oiled and sharpened.

With that said, my dream Pioneer would be black & a red shield.

The knife itself is good for daily carry. I know many people prefer the X, and I gave it a shot too, but the regular Pioneer is a lot slimmer and lighter. To compensate for the scissors I carry a Classic SD on my keychain - problem solved.

Besides, scissors seem kinda delicate for a tough, heavy duty knife such as this one. The X strays from the design imo. It feels like someone modded a Pioneer in his basement. The blade is offset, nail nick is wrong, feels less a knife and more multitool.

Man I can't get over how nice the orchid colour is... I looked around for one on the 2° market, but boy they're pricey!

As per bump request , here's my "daily driver " . I had an armourer friend engrave the main blade as this is how I see this particular knife 😊(as per Spongebob Squarepants )
It has "seen some smurf"as they say (literally, among other worse things  Has been VERY thoroughy cleaned many times, I hasten to add) and still does everything I could want of a daily companion tool

Welcome to MTO, Turbolqk!  You might get lucky and find a black Pioneer w/ red shield, or you could hunt for a Black Beauty Swiss Rail Soldier.

I fully agree with your thoughts on the pioneer. I’ve EDC’d one since 2012. A black one for 6 years, the 2018 berry red one for 7 years, and now a regular silver one since February. To me, the pioneer is the best pocket knife ever made!

I agree that it's definitely one of the best. I have to say, though, I really prefer the ones without the keyrings, whether Soldiers or Pioneers. Man, I love that Black Beauty...

I prefer no key ring nub as well, so I grind them all off.

My collection has grown a bit since August.
All are Pioneers or Soldiers except a Farmer and Farmer X (both blue), and a Yellow Pioneer X.

(Edit to add, 3 not pictured: duplicates of the Nespresso orange and 2016 Orchid, and my daughter's NIB birth year Soldier.)

How do you perform the nubectomies? Do you snip with like a bolt cutter and then file down? How do you file down without hitting the scales?
