SAKs and Tartans

I took a this pic yesterday for Spartan Saturday, and was thinking others might contribute
Doesn't have to be an official Tartan my pic isn't,
All plaids are welcome  :cheers:

Nice idea, but isn't that pattern simply just checkered or gingham?  :think: English is not my other tongue but AFAIK tartan (and plaid) is a bit more complex with lines with different width. 

EDIT: Sorry, you already cleared that in your original post. I made myself look like a smartass.  :twak:

A scarf I picked up in Glasgow, and the '84 Soldier I had in my pocket when I got it.

This is the official USAF tartan and a SAK Classic featuring the USAF seal.





I carried this SAK when I was deployed (always!) and wore this scarf on deployment a few times as well. The scarf is not authorized for wear with any USAF uniform that I know of, even though it is an official USAF tartan, but I'd wear it anyway and just get in trouble. It was worth getting into a wee bit of bother to fly the tartan!   :rofl:

I'm quite sure the Coast Guard, Army, and USMC have tartans. I don't know about the US Navy.  Army Special Forces have their own tartan. I don't know if there are other US military tartans out there...... :dunno:
