Victorinox Cheese Master
on: April 14, 2020, 01:44:49 PM
The Cheese Master is being released today, might be lock in fever but I am very excited to get one. Perfect for a summer picnic in my garden and a fondue in the evening in the house! Always like to see a new tool.   :climber:

Forgot to add pic! Seem to be out of stock already on the UK site or maybe not put on yet due to Coronavirus?

I was never big on the cheese knife, but the addition of the fork makes it interesting for bbq and such. Maybe I need one after all. Like the serrated blade as well. Just need a use for the cheese knife  :D

Today, Victorinox Netherlands has put on their Instagram it's coming soon... Very soon. But certainly not today, so maybe they've been running ahead of things in the UK? :D

I rarely use a chef knife in the kitchen - though I have the Victorinox one.  I'd have to say that I do find that issue with food sticking to the side of the blade - especially with potatoes.  (thats why a lot of larger cooking knives have scalloped sides).

I can imagine that the cheese knife is good for all-around food prep, and easier to keep clean.

I have the fixed blade Victorinox kitchen cheese knife with holes, it does work well for cheese but also gets used for other food prep as well as you suggest.

Sir Vic, the cheese blade works for anything.  I use mine almost everyday for cheese, but it's very sharp and works great for meats, chocolates, whatever you might have on your charcuterie board that day.

When the new cheese SAK came out I was excited about it, but having slept on it for a year, I'm not sure what I'd do with the little fondue fork. I guess maybe pick olives out of a jar.

Swiss sandwich knife, that's for sure. I don't like using folders around food, but may just have to try it with this one.

Debating on how useful this would be for camping as I normally just carry a long spoon or spork with my cookset and only use my knife for slicing up food or opening food packets.

Might just be the perfect addition to my camp kit.

The thing that bothers me about the Cheese Master is that they can machine a new fondue fork but nor machine 84mm scissors

Quick test this morning: Fork to retrieve a pickle from the jar, cheese blade to cut it into slices so I could put it on my sandwich, serrated blade for the rest  :D

Interesting that none of Vic's photos show the bottle opener on the fork.

Nice!  I also didn't realize that the fork had a cap lifter.  So cool.
