Mercury Range 913
on: April 14, 2020, 10:26:54 PM
Anybody have or try one of these Italian SAKs before? First and foremost I was totally surprised by quality and snap all the implements have as well as ZD0CD15 stainless blade. It also has a few Interesting differences you do not see on other SAKs: “toothed blade” with micro serrations for food prep, garden variety fork, and cutouts for both corkscrew (fits micro driver) and Phillips. One big negative is the ABS plastic scales do not have slots or option of toothpick, tweezers, ink pen, straight pin, etc...

I’ve seen the website, but not tried one - what do you make of it? :like:

It is not the quality of Victorinox or Wenger, but so much closer compared to Swiza or Aitor if you know what I mean. The main blade is 2.75 inches (7 cm) and handle is 3.9 inches (10 cm). Overall I am impressed and think their prices are quite reasonable.

What is that tool/blade immediately to the left of the main blade in the first pic?  What is their website?

So that second blade is called a “toothed blade” with micro serrations for food prep and such. See pics. Their website is https://www.mercurycut.it/

Looks an interesting bit of kit. Wonder if the mod squad could mill out scales to allow for tweezers, pen,  etc .
Always nice to see more variety out there

They do these in stag. They are as sexy as can be.

While not an SAK-alike; it is by the same company. One of the cutlery dealers I do business with has this knife marked down to $30. I love the stag handle; and a bottle opener and SD tip are combined into the saw. It's also a big 4 1/8 closed.   I think I'm gonna get it, I'm thinking it over until tommorrow. Besides, they have some Schrade USA factory leftover parts I needed (saw) to modify a Folding Hunter, and there's no need paying $5 shipping just for a less than $1 part. Might as well buy the knife...

Looks like they do pretty thick blades too. Lots of 2.5-3mm.

I don't have any of the red plastic handled ones but the others i have are well made, the small metal ones are similar to the Vic Excelsior as shown
