Mp600 saf.t.plus button

Hi, I’m a new member but hoping I can get a bit of friendly help and/or expertise. I recently found a Gerber MP600 in an old tool box. It was pretty rusted but with some elbow grease and a can of CLP I was able to get it fairly clean and in working order. Problem is, when disassembling both of the side lock things and springs came out. I have them, but it appears to be a nipple that goes on the side part of the button that lines up with the spring. It looks to be plastic and it also looks to be broken. I can no longer get the spring to stay in between tool and button. Any tips on fixing this or possibly replacing? I appreciate the help and am super excited to get this free tool in my range bag. Thanx again.

Welcome Onlysimioli. If the plastic pin from the slider (first picture; middle part of plastic slider above spring sleeve) broke, your best bet will be to claim a warranty claim/fix through gerber's website. Also, check CL or the Bay for a "used and abused" one but with good handles to use as spare, as it is easier to replace handles than to try cobbling up a fix; there are no consumer replacement parts available from Gerber, and I can't think of someone who might have just a slider. Also, you'll need a rivet and have a way od peening it without breaking the "new slider".

Well, if it isn't broken, place spring on slider pin, push with needle nose pliers or small screwdriver, to compress spring and place over the handle side's pin. Check function.

Hoping that you'll be able to have it back at full service soon, and that you're safe.

Thanx Juan! Turns out what I thought was just a little piece I was missing is actually the whole locking slide thing. I appreciate the pics, it was those pics that pointed me to what I needed. So as of now if any one happens to have those slide I’m open to a little bartering lol. As far as other things regarding the mp600, I’d like to try and find a saw blade it appears to have that’s removable. Doesn’t have teeth, more of like a diamond edge blade.

Glad they help. As for the saw blade, the OE one is a Remgrit GJ4. If you're able to get/find any "universal" (also called "u- shank", but with a hole in the tang) jigsaw blade of your liking, get it as it might be better for you ( I've taken out the Remgrit  in my bladeless; although it can be used on different materials, it takes forever to cut through, no matter what the material is). I carry a couple of wood and metal saw blades inside a straw next to the bit kit, within the sheath.

You may also check the "tools needed" or "tools for sale" sub forums for a used but good chassis/handles. You may even place a WTT or WTB or ISO ad.

OT- Can you post a picture; just wondering if in fact is an MP with busted sliders or a later version of a "Mr Pinchy"? (The latter does not have locking tools, so no need for sliders).
