Identification help, please?
on: May 12, 2020, 05:03:11 AM
My oldest Victorinox given to me around 1980, but I had to work for it. I was so happy to get it. Anyway, can anyone tell me what it is, or when it was made? It’s light as a feather. I’ve had to bring the tip down some because of all the sharpenings, so it’s a bit shorter. I can give measurements tomorrow if needed. It’s about Executive length.

Not 84mm?
See here, it could be a sub-version of the Sentry

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

It cannot be 74mm, probably it's 75mm - in this case this model was called Beginner, which was produced with different scales (ribbed Alox as well)

Okay, I measured carefully, and it is 75mm. I think it is the Beginner.

And I definitely can't find any info anywhere on when it was made.

Hi Jazz

Congratulations to your amazing knife! It is quite rare. That knife does not appear in any vintage catalog, only the bigger one in 84 mm. So it is really special. Its a model Nr. 2051 r+, only produced in small numbers, between 1957 and 1974.

Thank you very much for your efforts, guys. I really appreciate it. Very nice to know. I wish it wasn’t so worn, but it was used with love.  :D

Jazz, was it new when you got it in 1980?  Did you buy it yourself, or was it a gift?

It was used. Dad gave me it. I don’t recall what shape it was in.
