Let's see--Cellidor stinks, and sometimes, I do need bigger and heavier tools. 111mm liners are horrible. They get mangled every time you drop a knife on a hard surface. 93mm. Can't kill 'em. I'd say you could run them over with a tank, and they'd be fine. The Farmer X has the exact setup I like in the Outrider, Huntsman, Fieldmaster (and the long discontinued 84mm equivalents), in the sturdy 93mm frame. '\

$75--EGADS MAN!

Ouch.  With the Pioneer, Farmer, and Pioneer X at roughly $35, $40, & $45, respectively, I would have expected the Farmer X to come in closer to $55 than $75.  I suppose we must keep in mind that $74 is MSRP, so fingers crossed that the "street price" does end up more like $55 - $60.

Would hope so. For $75 I am gonna pass...

$75 ouch, I’m going to think like Nate said being a msrp that should drop it down to like $55-60, plus it’s just coming out, I’ll wait till it comes out on amazon and watch it..

For sure the price is high, but seems like MSRP is always higher than street price anyway. Fingers crossed.

If it's any consolation,  that's $3 more  than I had to pay for my Pioneer here in NZ.  I shudder at what it will cost here,  or if it'll even make it here

Yeah I remember NZ as being literally the worst place in the world for buying SAKs!
On the bright side, that means you'll cherish the SAKs you do get all the more!

Me, I'm holding out for the Fishy Farmer  - A Farmer with a scaling tool. What are the chances, guys!

Maybe I should recreate that fishy SAK that Syph once made...
Clacking 20 fishscalers back into place at once sounds therapeutic.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Oh I'd forgotten about that! That was awesome. Syph single-handedly invented the Victorinox Foot Massage Tool.

Been looking forward to this, and I would suggest not to disregard it too soon too fast--no knives/tools ever really sell at MSRP, most always steeply discounted.  I would expect it closer to 55-60 to be competitive.

edit: just read Nate's comment earlier, hope you won't mind me seemingly parroting what you said.

Both with regular silver colour scales.
I don't know if it will be the final price.

Looks like you can pre order:
https://swissarmyknifeshop.patternbyetsy.com/listing/800389603/swiss-army-knife-victorinox-alox-farmer

$65 is better than the $75 MSRP.

I like it but admit I can’t justify buying one. My current MT carry has what I need and with the whole pandemic we are focusing on saving rather than spending.

For that high of a price I'm just going to wait for one of the knife companies to come out with the colored alox.  :dunno:

Surely the others here mean USD?

The NZ distributor's RRP for the Pioneer is $74, but is often available for less. The Pioneer X's RRP is $105. 75 USD translates to about $125 RRP which seems about right. But since you can buy the PX for less than $90, one might expect the FX to sell for around $110. Still quite a spend!

Not 100% certain of course. But most of the large distributors get their own alox colors to sell. DLT has Blue and Black, KnifeCenter has Red, and I think one of the German companies had Black, Red, Blue and Green.

It might take a few months after the plain silver versions release but eventually we should get colors of some sort.

Just recently got into SAKs. But it seems like Alox versions eventually get a color treatment. Just a matter of time.

Good find!  Reading the fine print there, it looks like the $65 includes shipping from Switzerland to the US, so perhaps $50 - $55 in the knife and the rest in shipping...

Does anyone think that the Farmer X will be thicker than the Pioneer X?

I read somewhere that the Farmer (no scissors) is as thick as the Pioneer X. So I’m guessing the addition of the scissors in the Farmer pushes the width up?

The pre order link doesn’t have the specs plus I think they got the wrong pic

The farmerX is the pioneerX plus the saw, so yeah it’s going to be thicker,

There's no chance of me buying one, I'd be able to put an extra wing on the estate for whatever the AUS retail price of that'll be.

Still, if anyone wanted to give me one, perhaps it would finally dislodge the Outrider as the best SAK getting around.....

I never use the corkscrew, and I prefer the in line awl.

I know the widths are wrong, but sod off the "opener" later, replace it with an inline phillips and the combi-opener tool.

It took them decades to finally come to the party with Alox, but now it seems they've got a taste for it....

Anything could happen...
