So I'm consdiering participating in the Fools of April challenge and already have a trusty old 110, but of course looking for a variety is our nature. I found the slim that was pleasantly cheap, but how is it? Does it feel cheap?

And does anyone know any variants that are on the reasonable end of price and available in the UK?

I can't help with a UK source for Bucks, but I do have a 112 Slim Ranger. I imagine it's very similar to the 110. While it doesn't feature premium materials, it is very well-made: good fit and finish, smooth action, tight lock-up, and a great edge from the factory. A Buck 110 slim would be a very worthwhile pick-up, in my opinion.

Love Buck knives, some of my first folding knives were knock-offs of the 110. Back then I didn't really know of the real deal, I liked the design but wished they were higher quality. When I first found the knife forums and learned a thing or two I decided I want a Buck 110. Easier said than done, back then they weren't widely available in our corner of the world. So I got a 112 from a local forum's "for sale" posts. Few months later an 110 came up so I snatched it too. Then I started buying them from abroad, some even imported from The States. Here is a family photo, excuse the poor quality - low light + cell phone..

(Image removed from quote.)

Thank you ! Far from done with that particular section of my collection because I seem to like most of the stuff Buck makes. Next one probably will be a 55  :)

Buck knives seem to find their way into my life. Since I last posted in this tread I got 3 more. And yes, the "next one" was a 55. This thing is smaller than I expected. I didn't really read the measurements on the website so I'm the only one to blame. I just imagined the "half one ten" a bit bigger  :D Anyway, this thing got wickedly sharp, put it in the watch pocket and carried it around for weeks. Used it as a dedicated apple peeler/ slicer. I eat 1-2 apples each day and use a knife for that - partly because I enjoy it ant partly because I h8 dealing with things stuck in my teeth. It worked great BUT - the scales are so thin that from the daily washing after the apple the wood curved and opened cracks between the scale and the brass.  Clamped it and left it for a week. It dried and returned to normal. I dipped the whole thing in boiled linseed oil few times and left it dry. Hopefully it's more water resistant now, haven't really tested it out yet because I am not sure that if the scales curve again they will settle back as good as they were.

Then a beautiful 1994  Buck 192 Vanguard. The wood of the bit older bucks is so much better looking to me. Haven't gotten the chance to carry that one yet. Partly because I have only once gotten out in the woods this year so far. And partly because I got it without a sheath and need to make one. Used it on some pork for cooking though, worked as one might imagine - awesome  :)

And the most recent is an 841. A knife that I wouldn't get myself as it just did't seem great on pictures and videos. A friend got it for me and now that I have it - I love it. It has all the modern and flashy attributes - micarta, flipper, ball bearings, clip, premium steel. And somehow it still looks kind of classic to me. Heck, I'm not even mad at the file work on the back, I usually don't like those. It's light, don't feel it clipped in the pocket but yet gives a powerful edge. If the clip could have been a bit less protruded when held in hand and the handle could have been juts a tad longer - it would have been just about perfect for me. But those are just nitpicking - the knife is awesome  :D

I don't own any smaller ones with wood scales and now might avoid that actually  ;)

I've got micarta on my Squire...

Nice.

I think the Slim series are a bit under-appreciated.  3 3/4” blade in a usable package that only weighs about 3 ounces is no mean feat.

I also really like that they offer both budget models at very reasonable prices and higher end models with upgraded materials.  I wish more knife companies would do this, and that Buck would do this with more models.  A 301 Stockman with S30V steel, G10, and NS pins and bolsters would be great.

I have a 110 Slim Pro that I carried quite a bit, though it has been recently replaced in the rotation by the 110 Hunter Sport.

Great color choice with the orange as well!

Thanks nate! That's was the main reason I got that one, when an orange knife comes out I have a hard time saying no  :D

Those 112 slims are great little knives! I gave one to my brother for a birthday gift, and I wished I'd bought one for myself as soon as I saw it lol

At only ~$30 for the GFN, you should get one for yourself ASAP! I agree; they are great knives, with superb bang for the buck.

Here are two 110's that were engraved by a lady who studied engraving in Italy.

Thanks brother.

These are slated for handle replacement in the future.I believe I've done this backwards as I should have replaced the handles and then have them engraved.

I had the opportunity to buy these many years ago, just as Samantha was just starting her engraving business. She offered me deals that I couldn't turn down.

I also bought a 112 Ranger from her.

Thanks guys. I just finished all of the pages for the April Fools thread and there are some cool Bucks in that thread.

This is another of Copper and Clad's special production Bucks in 5160.This has oak handles and does look different from your typical 110 handles.
