Does anyone know if the Dragon, Space X capsule has a SAK onboard like the Apollo and Shuttles did?

I heard they have a Victorinox Space Tool with them which can fold time and space.

Refresh my mind as to which model they carried back in the “olden days”? I recalled they did but forget which.

The Master Craftsmen from the late 1970s were supplied to NASA for use aboard the Space Shuttle.

I am honestly surprised Victorinox hasn't set up some kind of partnership. Or for that matter, anyone else in the cutlery industry.

I don't think that's a choice that's being made by anyone in the knife industry :D

Nasa is the strong name there and they decide if they'll put up a long term partnership with anyone.

Agree with Mechy. Despite what the online newspapers say, it's NASA astronauts on a NASA launch with a capsule built for NASA and paid for by NASA going to a NASA destination.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Sure it is. NASA sends people there all the time.

Edit: I don't really do emojis, so just imagine a whistling emoji.

Yes, I thought he meant it's owned by NASA, which of course it's not :)

Don't forget, all Space "X" vehicles come with a pair of scissors (with the nail nick on the wrong side)
The Space Farmer X will have the saw too.

I think it's obvious we were both being obtuse, which is half the fun. And three eighths of the rest of the fun.

Well, NASA used their rocket to build a lot of it... :D
But yeah, I know it's merely a destination. :)
Does each country still own the individual modules they built? I believe it's some sort of "no one owns the whole thing, and here's everyone's responsibilities, if anyone slacks off we legally have to abandon it" system.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

I was talking to another Space Program enthusiast a couple of months ago. He told me that like 15% of the Astronaut's time aboard the ISS is spent fixing "stuff".
I thought that they needed either a SwissChamp or some custom designed SAK for each crew member.
Maybe call it the SpaceChamp. Have a NASA and/or SpaceX logo on it.
Victorinox would have a huge advertising coup.
Then sell the identical model to the public.
Omega Watch Company supplied the wrissmurfches used by the Astronauts and that model, the Speedmaster, has been available to the public as a special NASA model for years.
It's very popular and at up to $5,000 new, half that used, they sell very well.

Why a pocket tool when you're fixing stuff 15% of the time??

A dedicated tool bag is: more convenient, more professional, always closeby and weighs just as much as a Swisschamp... in space.

We're all tool enthusiasts here, and it would be cool to see something like that... But it would make zero sense :D

Well, Chris Hadfield used a Master Craftsman to commit what might have been the first B+E in space, so there's that.

The interior of the Space X craft is super-boring looking. Everything is touch-screen controlled and there are none of the switches and plugs and dials of the Apollo capsules!
It really is not photogenic in the sense that we have expectations of how a spaceship should look inside. It looks too tidy.
And if anything does go wrong, like on Apollo 13, if those screens die the crew can't do much, besides sit there, hoping for the best. So my conclusion is a penknife is as much use on there as a pneumatic drill.
