Vic Combo Tool for me. Unparalleled tool density :D

Honorable mention goes to the newer stainless steel Vic files, almost scary sharp :tu:

Not sure why I didn't see this thread before!

For the tool I think is coolest, it's gotta be the magnifying class on my Swiss Champ.  Not that I ever really use it, but it can be fun for just playing with and goofing off.

For the tool I appreciate the most for use, it's gotta be the pliers.  I know everyone bags on the SAK pliers...  I've said it before and I'll say it again... nothing better in the whole wide world for digging stuff like thorns, staples, slivers of glass, etc. out of a bike tire.

I also use them to do little bending jobs on paperclips for various odd tasks.  You'd be surprised at how useful a heavy duty paperclip can be in combination with a Swiss Champ...  I've made all sorts of little single use tools out of a paperclip with my SAK pliers over the years.

Definitely the pliers.

I post about how much I love SAK pliers and end up killing the thread?

I love SAK pliers too :tu:
I'm currently on the prowl for a donor knife and intend to make a two layer SAK, large blade, combo tool, pliers and corkscrew :)

Thread necro.

For me, the Vic can opener was a stroke of genius. I find it awfully useful and very good looking. The person that came up with that design hit the jackpot so to speak and I wonder if he/she ever saw due recogniton for that.

Then, there's the pen blade; cute and performant. What else to say

The inline awl. A very good multi-tasker tool.

Actually, everything on a Vic Huntsman and a alox Soldier/Pioneer is great for me. However, I do EDC a Vic Handyman in my bag because I like those pliers, despite the fact I find the Huntsman the comfiest SAK to use other than a Camper. It's why I also carry the Pioneer. Does that even make sense? Am I losing it? Is it a typical MTO effect?  :ahhh  :D

It's too hard to choose one tool!! I love these equally:

1) can opener
2) awl
3) saw

If I was forced to choose - I'd have to give a nod to the can opener purely as it's the tool I use the most.

The sheepsfoot blade is perhaps my fave - SO great for precision cuts.

Definitely the main blade on an alox model. For some reason, I play with that the most when fondling an alox model. The snap, the shape, the sharp edge (made possible by my Wicked Edge  ) and the sharpening notch make me feel good about a blade that is going to last a good number of years.

For me, it's the locking screwdriver, either on the 111mm Victorinoxes or 85mm Wengers. It can just do SO many things!

  • Screwdriver
  • Bottle opener
  • (ghetto) wire stripper
  • Pry bar
The only other tools that are even close in terms of versatility are the CyberTool and the combo tool on the 58mm Victorinoxes.

The locking blade on the 85mm Wengers are very good.

My favorite is the metal saw.  A friend of mine parked his car one evening and when he returned to his car, the lot was closed with a chain across the driveway. He used the metal saw in his SAK to cut the chain. By his account, it was no sweat. So I'd say it works pretty well. I haven't cut anything as substantial, but I have found to work well too.
