Day 13

By the power of Walmaaaaart!

The headlamps were a dollar each and the lantern was just under three. I've wanted cheaperthan cheap head lamps for a while so I can work out a rigging system for backpack straps. The lantern is actually really good, runs on 3xAAA and has two brightness levels and a red light mode!

Check out my Youtube channel  for gear reviews, comparisons, and carry philosophy.

DAY THIRTEEN
Closest thing to a Zippo I have.
It makes two little jets of flame.
One of these days I'll find out more about it.
It says Switzerland, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't made there... Never heard of a Victorinox-type of company making Zippos.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I dont know about Victorinox but Wenger did briefly make lighters.
Here is a youtube link to product series video

I do own the Fidis wick lighter and it is a beautifully made piece. Here it is next to standard and a small size zippo.
The key feature of the Fidis is the back half of the lighter is a spare fule tank for refilling the main lighter

It is a Weems & Plath compact parallel plotter.  There was the basic parallel rulers which could do the job and then there was the parallel plotter which was the desired tool.  It is popular among mariners for plotting on navigational charts, but it also has additional uses in the Navy.  It was used a lot when operating around other ships in conjunction with maneuvering boards (pictured below) for shiphandling such as manually computing stationing, avoiding and approaching other ships.  I used it so much that I bought my own set.
