Dumb identifacation q

So, some time ago a picked up what was supposed to be swiss champ silver tech.It was cheap so when it came and had 6 layers (no pliers) I though someone had modded champion with silver tech scales and thought no more of it.
Later I started to wonder what it really is/was.
Here are some photos:





Last one shows it side to side with my SwissChamp. One layer short - missing the pliers, everything else is there.

I’m happy with it, I think it looks nice, but it is annoying the smurf out of me not knowing what it is. Someones tune-up most probably but with what as a starting point?

In short, 6 layers, all Swiss Champ tools minus pliers with Silver Tech scales. The magnifying lens holder is grey (like in old Champions?), can’t say if the lens is plastic or glass.
What is it?

Any ideas/guesses most welcome!

I think it's a "champion plus"
A champion plus have all the same tools as a Swiss champ just minus the pliers.
So the previous owner probably changed out the scales

A regular champion has no hook.
A champion plus has a hook and plus scales

I think you are right! And it has to be 7 vs. 8, not 6 vs. 7 in layers

My understanding (from reading the Wiki) was the the seven layer Champion was superseded by the SwissChamp in the mid eighties and eventually disappeared (pre hook?).

But was re-incarnated several years later as the Champion Plus - Is that the case?

I have not trawled through the catalogues to verify this.

I don't know the differences between the most recent Champions (1980s?) and the oldest Champion Plus variations. Both should have the grey magnifier and a crossbow tang stamp. Could be any of those really :dunno:
But it's not important I guess.

The scales have obviously been replaced of course :)
