Depends on how much you pay for them and how much profit you expect to get...

Haven't got a clue about the Pioneers, but personally, for profit investment i'd buy stocks or gold bars....

The SBB Black Beauties (technically Soldiers, not Pioneers): yes probably if you can get them cheap enough. I've seen them for sale for a few grand

I think Andetto is talking about the pioneers w. red shields that were sold in Germany (and elsewhere?) a few years ago. They were unnumbered, had a keyring and sold for about 30 euros. They have increased in price since then but certainly not into the 1000s and it would be a mistake to think they will ever be that valuable !

I know a place where they sell them for 40 $, brand new.

Excellent, you could buy some and sell them today for two or three times that. Buy as many as you can afford or as many as they have!

I found the receipt for mine: €28 in March 2015. Why did I sell that one again?

I bought mine for €22,50, still have it NIB, I thought I'd carry it but never actually happened.

It depends where and how you sell them. In my country it's not worth it at all. Selling overseas may be profitable if I didn't mind the hassle, which I really can't be bothered with.

I prefer to buy items because I like them, not as investments. I don't like having my life cluttered by precious things I don't fully appreciate.
