Tittle says it all, my first scale swap (yes, I was a Scale-Swapping virgin ... :-[).

Last Christmas Misses TG-24 and the kids got me my first Cybertool SAKs, since I couldn't decide between the Cybertool 41 or the Cybertool Lite, they got both for me (looks like they know about the MTO way  ;)).
I was pretty excited to see those Ruby Red translucent scales in real life on a big SAK (my first Victorinox from my boys doesn't count).  And since I love the look of my Silver Tech Swisschamp, I assumed I would also love those Ruby Red scales, but ...

I was a bit dissapointed when I saw them, they are okay, but I don't get that Wow feeling that I get from my Silver Tech Swisschamp, maybe it's the fact that the cybertools have the black plastic bit holder that spoils it for me, I don't know...

When I ordered my Winter Magic Specials a couple of weeks ago (this years Christmas gift  :D), I got myself some plus scales, some extra lanyards and replacement parts, and today, I finally went for it, here are the pics:

Black scales, black plastic bit holder, green/black lanyard... don't know about you guys, but in my opinion this is how Victorinox should sell these...

Edit: I can finally request my Scale Changer award now  :).

Well done  :tu: You clearly are a connaisseur, TopGear. Cybertools need to be black.

Thanks mate  :salute:.

And yes, they really need to be black, that plastic bit holder looks weird with every other colour, but it looks awesome with the black scales.

Nice work, and black does indeed look good on a CT!  :tu:  However, I think I’ll keep the sapphire plus on my modded CT34 as it’s my only sapphire SAK.

I'm going to keep the Ruby Red Scales on my Cybertool Lite as well, I also would like to keep one of them and the Led Light on the Cybertool lite has a red switch, so there would always be a bit of red on them anyway...

Looks good! I have the CT34 with the Ruby scales. It's my only SAK with translucent scales... I really like the shade of red but I find translucent plastic tends to look a bit cheap, except the SilverTech.

I got a set each of black, green, and blue plus scales for my CT34, Ranger, and Explorer, respectively. But I'm just not sure I want to change the Ruby for the black... I feel like after a while, the look becomes part of the character of the SAK, especially since it's the only one I have of it, and it was also a gift as my second SAK.

Such decisions...  :dunno:

Those black scales look really good! They give the knife an elegant yet all business appearance.  :tu:

Are CTs still available with sapphire scales? I much prefer them over the ruby ones. I think they age better, too. I have some scratched up ruby scales and man, do they look awful.

Well, if ever you change your mind, this is how nice it will look ;)

I did soak the Ruby scales in hot water before removing them, and it looks as if I could re-fit them if needed, not much plastic broke off (haven't really tried it, but they don't look very different from new ones).

That does look sweet ...

I don't know why but the first thing I thought about when I saw that pic was this ...

I do have an extra set of black plus scales ...  ::)

For now I really wanted black scales with that green lanyard, and I've held the black scales and lanyard next to the Cybertool Lite and the red switch didn't go well with the green lanyard, but I was so set on that green one that I didn't consider a red or black lanyard (which I also have lying round here somewhere).

Maybe that will be the next swap  ;).

Looks great TG. :tu:

I've got ruby scales on my Huntsman and, for some reason, I think it suits them.  I'd not want them on all my SAKs though.  I don't think there is any logic at all to my thought process here.  :D
