UK price is, on average, £100 - £120 ($139 - $167) for a new Wave+ and doesn't awlways include postage  ::)

$100 = £72 which would make it £12 (or $17) more than my Bond

Leatherman REALLY hate those O/S CONUS  :bnghd:

To be fair, UK and outside USA is a completely different ball of wax lol. That would hurt my soul to pay that much.

The price of Leatherman in the UK is insane, I got my Wave for an absolute steal... becuase I bought a deliberately broken one and warrantied it. They sent a brand new one

I'd definitely keep quiet about that.

To clarify I bought it for what it was, an OG Wave that was clearly intentionally broken to make it UK legal by the previous owner. After receiving it I thought why not and got lucky with a new one, I'd have kept and been happy with it regardless, and free warranty tool was a nice outcome not the reason I bought the tool  :dunno:

Even though I got a bit pissed at Leatherman for the way they responded about the blade issue on the Bond..I think the Bond in general is an excellent tool.

The curl on the other hand..its just a head scratcher..why are the inner tools not locking

They’re starting to be listed on more sites. I wonder why Leatherman is waiting so long to introduce them.

This is odd. Not mentioned on their official website. Are the stores jumping the gun?

Thanks for that. First time I've seen it properly. Thoughts, price has to drop a bit, not happy about non locking bit tool but the rest doesn't bother me, heck if they were going all out on non locking, why not include the blade and make world carry legal? Would be great to swap (mod) in a 154cm blade and replaceable wire cutter plier head and it's a really great urban MT setup. Not trying to be both urban/work as well as outdoors. I'd be very tempted myself. I've never used the saw on my Charge and used the serrated blade about once. Never used the eyeglass tool and the awl would be a nice replacement.

I'm glad some Leatherman tools have non-locking blades for other parts of the world, but those tools are very undesirable in areas that permit locking blades.  As is, I'm buying the Curl as soon as it goes online.  If the blade was non-locking, I wouldn't even consider it.

Thanks for that.

Is it just me though, or does it look rough as smurf? It looks cheaply made in that first pic.

I guess you could replace the blade with a saw if that was allowed. I still don’t get the non-locking tools.

I wonder if it is the replacement for the Wingman. The price will have to come down a little if it is.

It would make sense to consolidate parts requirements.

I see it on a lot of sites, but I don't trust that they actually have them in stock.  Please post if you get the real thing.

It makes sense that they have them. Logistically you’d have to ship weeks ahead of time have a coordinated rollout. I’m just surprised Leatherman didn’t control their dealers more.

I'm not planning on getting a Curl myself; it's not calling to me like the Bond did. But the slipjoint inner tools don't bother me.

First, I'm sure that the decision was a simple cost- and time-saving measure on Leatherman's part. There's plenty of precedent for having locking outside blades and slipjoint inside tools: the OG Wave, Sidekick, Wingman, and Rev all have this combination.

Based on my experience playing around with the Bond, the spring detent of the Bond and presumably the Curl (since it looks like they share the same spring design) is very strong and secure.

And I actually kind of like the look of the smooth sides of the handles with no lock levers. That's one reason the OG Wave has better aesthetics than the newer Wave/Charge.

Just my two cents.
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra
