Just another day at work. I am so glad to be back on my tools. Electrical can be very gratifying when the install comes out nice and "clean".

I used the can opener today.  It's been a while since I've used this style of opener.  I used to like these better than the Vic opener but now I mostly use the Vic or an electric opener.  More practice might be required.

Day 15

New respect for the EvoGrip 14 's blade:

The picture is a reenactment of what I did earlier today. I needed to trim some width off of an outlet cover plate today and decided to see if the EvoGrip was up to the task, and it was  :tu:.

:like: I have at least one cover in my house that looks like that. Wouldn't have figured a pocketknife would have trimmed it up so nicely,,,, awesome!

Some beautiful Model 1908’s, probably the favourites in my SAK collection although I’m partial to the mod 51’s and 61’s too…let’s face it I’ve not actually come across a SAK I didn’t like :D

I usually use a hacksaw, but in this case I could get by without having a perfectly straight edge. Of course, if it was a Bakelite or hard plastic plate the hacksaw would have been a necessity.

Day 15: I mostly used it as a flashlight when putting a new battery in my truck in the garage (which is poorly lit). The bolts that secure the hold-down can be a pain to reattach. I had used a small Craftsman 4" adjustable wrench to remove the battery, as it was in my EDC pack. I had purchased a cheap mini ratchet/screwdriver at Advance Auto Parts to leave in my truck, and that's what was used to put it back in. Since my light was in the pack back at the car, I just used the Esquire.

MTO Delemont Day 15 by cody6268, on Flickr

I have largely stopped carrying more than a traditional knife, a lightweight one-hand open folder, and an SAK or small multitool on me; and moving most of the stuff to a cheap "Fuel" backpack I used when I started taking college classes when I was 13 (I homeschooled back then) and hadn't used in years. I'm getting a Jansport soon, hopefully.  Tactical packs are expensive, heavy, have too many straps, and their styling  draws unwanted attention.

Here's the kit I currently carry in my pack. It is carried in a mesh (wire screen) makeup bag in a shaving kit that serves as an organizer for my EDC backpack. The organizer contains contains most chargers, eyeglass cleaning stuff, a power bank, headphones, and some tools all compartmentalized in four makeup bags.  I made this organizer out of stuff from the cosmetics section at Dollar General as an impulse buy. It surprised me how well the makeup bags fit the shaving kit bag.

It surprises me what people are now asking for the little Craftsman 4" adjustable. Back when I wanted a small wrench that opened up to 9/16 for gate hinges, I paid $15 from Sears way back when these were still made by Western Forge, and Sears sold the full Craftsman Professional range online. Now people want $40 for the things.

I strongly recommend the Pocket Wrench II as an EDC tool. It's a compact wrench, 1/4 driver, and pry tool all in one light package. Mine is the early tool steel variant; and it took me longer to find that specific version; as I wanted that one only.

I do plan to add some 1/4 bits and the Victorinox ratchet. Currently, a cheap Screw Pop tool (which originally held a double-ended bit, lost sometime in my teens) and a Gerber with LM adapter are my drivers.

I store the Gerber MP400, Olight i5T, and Mercator on the outside pocket of the organizer by themselves as a "rapid access" set.

Thanks for all of the wishes for Mrs. Tet's birthday!  The cake was almost a disaster!  Despite what I though was overkill greasing the pan (based on previous "cake sticking the pan" incidents), some stuck to the pan and broke off.  Then things got worse...I left it in the microwave to keep any stray fruit flies/flies from finding it.  I had something else baking in the oven, so I set the timer on the microwave. But of course, I didn't set the timer, I turned the microwave on accidentally and then went out to meet my daughter getting off the bus.  So in the end my already baked cake got microwaved for 10 minutes   In the end it wasn't terrible, just not quite as moist and spongy in the middle.  So here it is, in all it's glory!

Cut open some snacks today with the S17.  Always so handy for opening slippery on the fingers wrappers.

While those contoured aerodynamic scales of the Evolution series is not why I chose this knife, after weeks of handing, I have to admit those well contoured scales feel good in the hand.
Despite adding a bit to the width of the knife, I think it is well worth it, as the contours do add to the comfort when gripping the knife.  It is very functional ergonomics.

Another successful hunt this morning. We should be able to get a few batches of snack sticks and maybe even some fajitas and stir fry. The s52 bade cleaned geese and ducks. Also used the cap lifter to open a couple of beverages.

Did you just subconsciously cut out a dinosaur or am I seeing things?
That's merely how the piece of scrap fabric happened to fall for the photo. It does look a little like a dinosaur, but that was not at all planned.

New respect for the EvoGrip 14 's blade.
Nice work! I wouldn't attempt such a thing until I improve my sharpening skills, but it's good that the EvoGrip has that capability.

Y'all are showing off some beautiful knives, too!

Day 15

One of my favorite things about this challenge has been seeing the variety of snack foods available outside the U.S.  (I could really go for a bacon butty, as mentioned by Gareth, too!) Today I opened a favorite snack of mine (the blade did better than the scissors), as well as a bag of food for the feral cats.

Culling of the knife and multi herds in progress...

If I pay five figures for something, it better have wings or a foundation!

Ummm looks nice, Echotech!

Day 15

The Evo 23 helped with some slicing and dicing - onions (red and white), garlic, a carrot, streaky bacon (smoked), chorizo, potatoes, canned beans, lentils and tomatoes with paprika and black pepper to taste - to make a stew/casserole to cook slowly whilst I’m out at a BeerFest at my local - great to be at one again after 2 years!

Thanks Rizio and so does that

I used a Spyderco Sharpmaker. I find this more than adequate for a SAK (and many other knives).
My sharpening kit contains various guided rods with a jig, but I also use a stone and an old leather belt with polishing compound as a strop.
I don't hate any knives enough to use a pull-through sharpener
Depending on the knife, I'll use a variety of methods. The Sharpmaker can get a SAK going quite quickly.

:tu: thanks, always heard good things about the sharpmaker
Pull throughs are mostly for cheap kitchen knives when in a hurry but know what you mean

Day 15

(Image removed from quote.)

Wenger Patriot.  This is probably one of the thinnest SAK I own, really easy carry in the pocket.

Another beauty comis  :like: :tu:  i assume it's a commemorative release judging by that old logo but the newness of the knife?

Day 15.

One of the most important jobs of the day (according to the dog); trimming the stalks off her green beans.

(Image removed from quote.)

I've been doing that today but for me rather than Coco, good to hear Molly likes her greens  :D :like:

Powernoodle Day 15

(Image removed from quote.)
Pocket Tool Chest enjoying an episode of DS9.

I've not sure what show that is (Star Trek maybe?) but made me laugh  :like:

Wenger and Victorinox pliers. I much prefer the Vic pliers. More precise, and when pressing one handle with my thumb, the other handle stays still.
