If I recall, weren't the undated ones produced in 2009 after regular Soldier M1961 had ended?

Yes good memory Cody, 2009-2013, but I had to double check

Feeling the blues today…. So might as well drop a ‘glamour shot’.

I got this adapter from a cheap n cheerful MT. Its advantage is that the hole that goes to the inline driver is rectangular (vs square on stuff that’s used in say, a Rebar philips). This minimizes wobble when you twist. It’s not a perfect fit but it will work when you really really need to turn that hex or torx.

Wenger PocketGrip/MiniGrip.  What strikes me interesting is in Vic camp, IIRC, all the pliers fit into their chassis regardless of their sizes.  But for Wenger, some do and some don't.  I kinda wonder are these oversized pliers answer to the rise of Leatherman tools back in the 70s/80s.

Saw one of these in a local online marketplace going for USD100+!!! But yeah, if I had cash then, I would have bought it.

Day 10

Evowood 17 freed a new EDC station, meant to be a jewelry box, but the hidden draws and sliding stuff is too cool  :like:

Ouch.  I still think of my undated SI as one of my "new" SAKs...which I bought just a year after they there were replaced as the issue standard.  I'm suddenly feeling a bit older.  :-\

Amen to that, Gareth!

Day 12

Time to open up my watch and give it a quick clean and lube, the Wenger watch tool is just the job :tu: Just kidding, no way would I even attempt to open up that watch - definitely one for the maker to look at. Love the blue anodising on the Wenger, and the Omega branding - last one I saw wanted silly money for one not the £15 I paid for this in 2017 - prices have definitely taken a turn for the expensive recently….

Day 12

So, I'm going to Warsaw in a couple of weeks, just for a couple of days. It'll be the first time I've left England, let alone the UK, since March last year. It's all a bit last minute and I hadd a sudden thought of "smurf, what about the challenge?!"

I toyed with "here's one I prepared earlier" type shots taken before going away, or catching up when I got back - until I had a bit of a brainwave...

One Nailclip 582, no blade, no hassle on the plane. Job done. Liberated earlier by the Soldat.

God knows what I'm going to do next time a challenge clashes with a flight out.

Out and about in old-reliable.

We own 3 vehicles, and each of them broke down in the last week.  Two are in the shop today.  It may be time to upgrade.

Terrible luck that, hope you get it sorted soon.
The car in my photo is a Corolla, never misses a beat and is easy (cheap) to maintain. I've been servicing and maintaining it myself for years.
I bought a new car (first car I've bought brand new) early this year. I can't touch anything on it without voiding my warranty.
The new car is excellent, but the Corolla will stay until its well and tired. At over 20 years old and 266 thousand kilometres I reckon it's got a good while yet.

That is so cool! I never thought there was one with just the nail clippers! The one I have has the blade, scissors, nail file….and I thought they all came that way.

AP blaze 13(orange), AP Snow 10 and Camo 7.  I got these 2-3 layers Wenger mainly for the 'hunting color' scales, which later on was discontinued after the company merged with Victorinox.

For whatever reason, they're a hard year to find.  Folder Beholder found that one for me after a long time of searching.
Make it even more special! :tu:

Day 11
This morning I mowed my entire lawn with the serrated Highlander. It was in my pocket the whole time.

Another good looking tool I’ve never seen before Comis! Part of what makes these challenges so awesome.

DAY 11: Chicken enchilada soup requires lots of can opening, so why not have a contest?  Old school Adirondack vs. Vic-style RangerGrip 78.

This can was the only one that the Adirondak could grip well.  It worked exactly like you would expect an old can opener to work.

(Image removed from quote.)

Now the new style.  Bus first expresses his lack of confidence in my ability to do this Immler style.  It turns out that he's a very perceptive dog, and my Immler technique sucks.  It did, however, open the can.

(Image removed from quote.)

TBH, I wouldn't even dare to attempt to replicate his method without some safety gloves on, but it surely is the fastest I have ever seen(I think he did it in 1-2 seconds, IIRC)  Kudos to you trying it without any gloves on! :D

11/30

Nothing notable today. Glamour shot with a carving that belonged to my father.

He's quite a craver!  Nice shot! :like:

Day 10/30

The SI has the beefier bottle opener.
It's interesting how all the alox seems to have beefier tools, probably due to their lineage from early solider models.

:like:

Saw one of these in a local online marketplace going for USD100+!!! But yeah, if I had cash then, I would have bought it.
It's sometimes baffling to me, why some of the Wenger tools would demand really high prices but some don't.  IIRC, anything that's discontinues with a large pliers in Wenger camp does come with a higher bid price.

Day 11

And then today I tried filling it a bit, it holds a surprising amount  :ahhh

That's a pretty good looking organizer! :tu:

I thought about gloves, but my inner idiot took over.  I'm going to have to watch his videos again to try to figure out what I was doing wrong.

Not sure how representative your picture is of your attempt, but from looking at the video I would say he uses a bit of twist in the forward push. The best way I can describe it is how you would turn a wrench on a horizontal bolt, I think that'd also allow you to engage your chest more in the force  :dunno:

Day 12

Today the S52 was along for moral support cutting firewood. The saw was ready for action if needed. I also used the large screwdriver. I run the Vic style can opener much better than the Wenger style, but that's probably just years of practice with the Vic.
