DAY 12:

A Wenger Teton next to a Victorinox Super Tinker.  Same tool set (except for the hook).  One of my favorites.
Here it is opening a "smile" box.

Day 10

We don't drink wine around here anymore and my shoestrings are not knotted, so I had to find another way to make use of the corkscrew. This tree has multiple woodpecker holes in it, and one hole was the right size for the corkscrew:

Day 11

Used the nail file. Not impressed by it.

That is so cool! I never thought there was one with just the nail clippers! The one I have has the blade, scissors, nail file….and I thought they all came that way.

I'll be honest, the only reason I knew it existed was browsing SAK Wiki. All hail the Wiki.

Day 12:

Finally caught the knife in use on film....or the digital equivalent..... Helped peeling and prepping some carrots from the garden. These are getting roasted with sage, rosemary, and garlic.

Jumbo carrots!
I usually buy a few 40lb bags from the gas station, sold as deer feed. Use them in venison stew that I pressure can. I can't get them to grow good here.

Day 13

I do not like the Wenger pliers that much. They seem a little loose, the tip is not that precise, and when you press one handle with your thumb, the other handle also moves, to meet the other in the middle, instead of pressing one while the other stays still.
I had to crimp a tiny ring and it took much longer than it should have.

Day 12

Had a electrical contractor meeting this evening at a local resturant. The meeting is also streamed(?) on Zoom for those who can not attend in person. My boss discovered that he lost the USB cord for the microphone. So I went to a local Walmart to get a new cord:

Tightened some loose Philips head with my S17.
The nail file tip works on smaller philips heads when the can opener flat head is too big.

Ever had those moments you were pushed aside while the big boys play? Like even though you’re not so bad yourself, you’re still relegated to the bench?

Don’t get me wrong- I love the slip joint pliers of Wenger. I usually use them to undo the packaging knot in a 10kg bag of rice. I also use it to tighten a nut in a bed frame- With the plier at its widest setting, I clamp it on the nut then wedge it on the bed frame and then tighten the bolt from the other end.

Day 12: Microlight Esquire. This was my first Wenger, and the only one I bought in a store. Tuesday Morning got a lot of Wengers around the time Victorinox bought Wenger, if I recall, it was maybe a year or two before 2012 when Vic axed Wenger. My store only had a few knives--heck this may have been the only one.

It was my main EDC for many years. Had most of what I needed (the LED is just bright enough--most used in places where they don't leave the bathroom lights on all the time) and was small. Until my joining here in 2015, I owned 3 SAKs; not 30 something like I do now.  I hated the Classic SD, and gave the one I bought new away.  Now about 25% of my collection is Classic SDs, and 35% is 58mm. About 7-8 years ago, I left it in my pack in a tent in the yard; and the batteries exploded due to about 150 degree heat. I had to take the front scale off, clean everything in alcohol, buy new CR1216 batteries, and reassemble. Still on that set of CR1216.

One goal I have this month is more Esquires. The Esquire is a better EDC knife in my opinion, as 65mm is just enough bigger than 58mm to be useful.

Today, I opened some mail with the pen blade, and pokey-proddy stuff with the nailfile.

Sorry that I have been absent the past 2 days. I had an intestinal bug.
Glad you're doing better.

I bought a new car (first car I've bought brand new) early this year. I can't touch anything on it without voiding my warranty.
That's one reason I refuse to buy a brand-new vehicle...you pretty well need a doctorate in electrical engineering to work on 'em anymore.

Love the blue anodising on the Wenger, and the Omega branding...
The one Wenger I have happens to be a Watchmaker. It's just standard red, not nearly as cool as yours.

On with the show...

Day 12

I decided the Evo 23 needed a new lanyard, so I made it happen. Just a glamour shot of it wearing the new lanyard for today.
USN 2000-2006

Culling of the knife and multi herds in progress...

If I pay five figures for something, it better have wings or a foundation!

Looks like a nice EDC! I agree a small size difference can make a huge felt difference in the confidence you have in the tool. I really want to pick up a 58mm or two with the light scale. And after this thread, I aspire one day to have a pocket tool chest.

Day 12

Evowoodd 17 got a little bit of a clean today after a strenuous day of opening two letters and a microwave burger. My SAK maintenance is more on the go than deep cleaning. Whenever I cut something with residue I remove most if not all of it with my finger and thumb, I use a micro driver to get into the back springs to clean out the pocket lint and misc. gunk that accumulates there.

AP blaze 13(orange), AP Snow 10 and Camo 7.  I got these 2-3 layers Wenger mainly for the 'hunting color' scales, which later on was discontinued after the company merged with Victorinox.
