Hi Guys. Lovely advice uptop.

Thanks to you all I ordered my first 111mm an Outrider.

The reason is complex.
1) My favourite EDC is normaly a Solo or Pioneer X, bantam alox followed closely by a compact. (Manufacturing office job)
2) When we travel to Europe I take my Climber over the my others it is smaller than explorer and bit tougher than compact.
3) when i go to africa love my ranger and actually a Leatherman wave with bits
4) In my flying bag i keep the supertinker or if wieght sensitive the small tinker (cowlings are Phillips)
5)when hiking i quite like my hiker or camper. Also the climbers again
6) inbetween them all I adore my Delemont collection knives. I do rotate them around but not too kuch. The locking blade and half stop is so amazing but i feel sorry for the scales and normally they stay as my faux safe queens. They have the best hand feel to all the 91mm models and just under appreciated.

So now why the outrider? I want the locking blade for traveling and a corkscrew and scissors are essential. The saw is a nice to have for Europe as we are often hiking in the deep forests. The extra length of the blade is really useful for cutting bread and hams.

For me the best tool is the one you have on you. Please guys keep up the advice. Can always get more opinions

Howdy and welcome to MT.o!   :2tu:

I hope you'll enjoy the Outrider--it is one of my favorite SAK's!   :tu:

The Outrider is like a Hunstman that has been super-sized.  I was curious to see that in your list of reasons and SAKs you didn't mention a Hunstman. (There is an easy fix for that, however.  :pok:  )

All my adult life I carried an Alox Cadet in my pocket and a Swisschamp in my bag. Since I joined here I tried to replace both with just one SAK. I used a Mountaineer, a Huntsman, a Pioneer with Scissors, a Swiss tool X. But now I'm back to an Opinel #8 Jardin in my pocket and the Swisschamp XLT in my bag (I always carry a bag). They proved the most useful combination. I could carry another knife like a Mercator or an Endura, but with smaller Saks I always miss some tool. Spirit is a very nice alternative to a Swisschamp though.

My favorite EDC has always been the Explorer til I got the Deluxe Explorer (added plier's, AKA super tweezers), now that is my new favorite EDC.  This is for urban carry of course and the sak will change if hikiing/biking etc. and I will also add a MT.

That's all well and good, but if your ass is locked down anyway, why settle for anything more than the smallest size you reasonably can get away with? Except if it's 111 mm challenge time, of course  ;)

Thanks guys. You really are all very kind and welcoming.

Reference my above post I am thinking of trying the 111mm challenge as my " if I only have 1 SAK then it must be this one." The outrider looks like it is close to perfect. My dream would be OHO plain blade with 3 layers and no saw.

I hope the outrider is the one. I might make some people a bit angry but I don't particularly enjoy the huntsman. I find it just a bit inbetween.

Inbetween a climber/super tinker(perfect hand feel ) and a ranger (best tool set for its size and gets smurf done). Also the alox farmerX is just so nice to hold and a bit tougher than the 91mm versions (missing a corkscrew though)

I don't know guys what to you think. I personally love all my Victorinox knives. Its like saying which is your favourite child.

Thanks again fir all the advice. Keep it coming

That looks so capable for us city dwellers. Never knew it existed. Must go sakwiki a bit to re educate myself. I enjoy my explorer but that looks so cool.

If there is only one and i must go as small as possible it will be either a compact or evo S14. I must admit the saw is normally useless for me. But also luckily we can go bigger so i am hoping the 111mm is the best allrounder

At this point in my career, one of my two Spartans is my best and most useful. One is more beat up than the other.

Here's one of them, I already showed this picture before.

I love Swiss Army Knives.  My answer is the Tinker.  The Tinker with a Classic SD is a phenomenal combo and the Tinker by itself is plain awesome.

Yes, I am wanting to replace my Spartans with a knife from the Tinker series. Having the phillips bit would be far better than the corkscrew. As I said, I don't drink, so the corkscrew is kind of just a curiosity and snagworthy projection as far as I'm concerned.

Awl good. But....what do you really carry?

Here it is: midnight, no moon.....your brother-in-law calls you and says he needs help right away. He lives 8 hours away, in a rural location in tornado country (why he needs the help). You need to leave in 15 minutes. Which SAK do you grab on the way out the door? (And did you remember your toothbrush? I don't think you want to borrow his......)

(Image removed from quote.)

I’ll play.

If going to aid BiL after tornado:

On my way out the door I grab my organizer pouch, which right now has Spirit MXBS

I also grab my travel go-bag (bag kept about 2/3 packed for a generic 3+ day trip.  It has a bladeless climber (in case flying) and Ranger.

I would also grab my emergency bag (think BOB or GHB), because it might come in handy with some of survival items.  It has a Farmer X.

There is a Rambler on the keys that I’m grabbing on way out the door.

In the vehicle I’m driving, there would also be a SwissTool RS and a Rescue Tool.

So without too much thought, I’m out the door and heading there with 7 different SAKs.  I would also have even more flashlights.

As far as toothbrushes, I would have 2 (one in each bag).
