Nice comparison!  I've had a couple Swisschamps and I currently have a Workchamp.  I really like carrying the Workchamp in the green Vic sheath.  For its size, I hardly notice it there.  I'd love to try the XL someday  :D

Those are outstanding.  I've never seen either in the wild.  Thank you for posting the comparisons.   :salute:

It's a tough choice Ulzhan, but I actually like the feel of the Workchamp.  It carries well, and has the locking caplifter and blade.  That being said, when I resume my travels, it'll be with the Swisschamp for several reasons, including legalities.
The more I read about and look at the XL, the more I feel the urge to get one.  There's just something about the Max SAKs :D

I remember thinking how much wider the WorkChamp XL is over the standard one.
Top: SwissChamp XL - SwissChamp
Right: WorkChamp XL - WorkChamp
Bottom: MiniChamp XL - MiniChamp
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

@Barry Understand. Some time ago I had a work champ. Giftet it to a friend. Have now the WC XL.

The big SAKs are really special.

@Lisa The Swiss Champ XL and the Minichamp XL are very rare. Haven't seen one of those in the wild.

The Workchamp XL is a collectors item IMO. It’s too wide to be comfortable for heavy use. Also a lot of tools I wouldn’t use regularly. The Workchamp is perfect for carry, easy to hold. Has the tools you need (though maybe 1 more layer with ?? Might make it perfect).

They took me the longest to find so far.

Great pics Lisa!  I never even heard of the Minichamp XL  :D. You're right about the size difference.  I read somewhere of a review on the Workchamp XL.  He said he had the strongest urge to hoofpick the first horse he came across.  Not that he ever did it before, but the first horse he finds is getting its hooves cleaned

One thing that takes some getting used to is the side nail cuts on the pliers to open it, also the inline drivers hidden under the pliers and scissors. No complaints, just a little different from 91mm SAKs.

I may be the clumsy one here--but I still remember the first time trying open the long phillips, I didn't expect the spring tension to be that strong, and it literally whack my thumb out of the way when it flies open.  It does get some getting used to.

Excellent topic and great comparisons from all so far, but can anyone comment about the different versions of the WorkChamps? The tool layout is pretty different.

I’ve been thinking about getting one for a long time, but only really want to get just one. I think I’d lean towards the slide-lock version. Analysis paralysis led me to forgetting I wanted one.

I see either as reasonable trade offs compared to 91mm Champs. Just gotta pick one.

I have the liner lock version, but if I had the choice, I'd get the side lock.  Just a personal preference.  I just like that setup better.

I gifted a Workchamp to my son, but bum it occasionally from him. The workchamp is my idea of the ultimate working man’s knife. It’s also a great backpacking knife. If I were back on the wilderness surveying crew I worked my way through college on, it would be Workchamp all the way. I am usually someone that likes ALL the layers I can get at +-90 mm. But at  +-120 mms, for my outdoor work, and backwoodsing, the WORKCHAMP  gets the job done. It is elegant—just what I need. The XL SEEMS overkill.

The Workchamp is the best work SAK ever.

My Cybertool L is the best trouble shooter. But if my trouble were wilderness? Workchamp NOW!!!!!!

:iagree: completely Sarge.  I use mine all the time around the house, and am looking forward to taking it out on the trail.  As big as it is, I really don't notice it on my belt.  It's definitely a complete toolset for 99 percent of most jobs around.

My Workchamp is with me most of the time, especially indoors. It's great for all those little projects that you encounter, and the inline Phillips drivers are really excellent. To me, it and a small pair of Knipex pliers are considerably more useful than a pliers based multitool.

Sometimes I think others think we are exaggerating about them being tool boxes in our pockets, but they really are amazing.

Thanks, Barry!  And everybody for the subsequent replies.  :tu:

I think slide lock it’ll be for me. The tool layout aside from the lock type looks better, and I don’t have a liner lock (hence my slight hesitation) and I don’t really use the other 111s I own. 3 Rescue Tools for the cars and the Garant for the collection are all so far.
