I started a similar thread a while ago: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,86599.msg2208912.html#msg2208912
The responses were both depressing (OMG I've only just scratched the surface) and inspirational (OMG I want a collection like that!). Hopefully you'll get some similar insight.

From the previous link posted above...I use large cabinet and tool chest sets. I have them in my bedroom but strongly suspect your wife would not go for this.

The nice thing about this is that it is all lockable.

Here is a link to most of my collection. The Swiss stuff is in there also.

Most of mine aren't really displayed; they are in plastic totes, generally in their original boxes.

Tool chests (the sort with lots of shallow drawers) seem to be a popular option though.  Some folks use curio cabinets or actual display cases.  Depending on how many you want to display, you might simply appropriate some space on top of a dresser or nightstand and lay them out there.

I've always thought it would be neat to get a (probably custom made) large glass top coffee table, that would allow the knives to be displayed under the glass.  Not really a priority for me right now, but maybe some day.

Your collection is nice to look at.

At first I used showcases, but I switched to small, self-made drawers because they save space and the collection is easier to organize.

This is a lousy picture of one of the trays I got from a SAK dealer, but I think depending how you'd like to present the SAKs, the tray idea could be used to organize and display them by length, theme, color, etc.

I don’t really have many on display at any given time. I like some of the store type display stands made by or for Victorinox.

  Thanks!

It’s a big concern. I generally don’t worry about anything made after about 1970 unless it has some liner issues, either cracks or signs of corrosion.

And the 84mm Master Craftsman is on pretty permanent open display, because most of the liners are cracked!

That style of cube stand is available in three heights. I think that’s the short one.

There are also several other stand styles available. Ones that I don’t like as much so they’re put away.

Here are a few drawers in my storage system. Nice and large and unfortunately a bit full. The nice thing about this system is that everything is visible when you want to...and can be locked away when needed. Not exactly on display, but when you reach a certain critical mass...it is hard to store them anymore efficiently than this and still see what you have.

The best part of these tool cabinet and chest combos are the deeper drawers that allow somewhat efficient storage of those boxed knives you do not want to separate.

I love you collection Chako (that has never been a secret). I like keeping my SAKs in a glass door cabinet so they are actually on display. To each their own obviously. My collection is behind me in my office (within arm's reach actually) and it's nice to be able to turn around and glance at the SAKs for a few minutes while contemplating work stuff :dd:

Thank you all for the nice comments. I apologize, but I am currently a little undecided whether I should still show collection pictures. I have often wondered why the "great collectors" do not show their treasures. But I'm slowly starting to understand that showing a lot of saks also creates "bad vibrations" and I really don't want that.

And here I was thinking you were at the point you could sell entry tickets by now :D

Oh, believe me, there are much, much larger, perfectly displayed collections! But their owners are very quiet and reserved.

Me with my boring little wooden drawers ... no chance.
