The older I get the more the start and the end of days seems to matter. They form increasingly comforting daily punctuations. No bad mornings. No bad ends of days. What trials and tribulations and joys and accomplishments have occurred are let go of as I shed my pockets and shift from work clothes to my favorite L.L. Bean flannel robe getting dogs and me ready for a night’s sleep. As always I was in a quick hurry to read the postings. Well, not really reading, but scanning the text. When I saw your posting, my first thought was "Useless. No time to spend on." and I clicked it away. But then I saw the title of your post again. So I thought maybe I was missing the point of your story. I read it again, and again, and again. The more I read it, the more I understood it. Now I know: What a nice small story you told us! It's lovely. "A wood screw I found on the ground." There's the essence of life. You picked it up, because in fact it is a valuable piece of metal, not just garbage. Thanks for sharing!
Shedding tears for you, Sgt. Euthanasing a pet is the kindest thing you can do when the time comes, but also one of the hardest, most painful things in life. I trust you've had many years of joy together. Take care.
Have to put LK the cat down tomorrow. Tomorrow is almost today. Haven’t slept much. Guess I loved that pumkin tabby more than I knew. This saw is how we used to make things in America. No idea what happened to the other ear plug.Wish LK could be saved. He is better at being a cat than I am at being a man. He could hunt in his day. And no dog wanted a piece of him a second time. He gave me a scar to remember him buy. And I will. God I hate the wait.
