Any of you have a bunch of leatherman multitools but rarely put them to use?

OMG...1 Euro currently cost 1.46 Canadian. The P2 goes for 160 Canadian. That equates to 110 Euro. Basically that arm I told you in Canadian funds. How much to they normally go for?

I have quite a few inside the house and the car but since being locked down due to Covid since March 15, 2020, I rarely carry any as I rarely go out of the house (I'm in the Philippines)

I have a Leatherman Skeletool that I have never really put to good use because I hate the format and design. I use every other Leatherman tool I have in some way or another.

It's the Leatherman I've bought new that I've had pretty much the longest, and used the least.  I think the new Bond will be a much better tool, at the same weight. Bits aren't that big of a deal--the #2 Phillips and 2-3 flats on most LMs do what I need. Swapping bits just for that is a pain. The removable adapter allows me to tackle the job if I need a specialty bit in a pinch, but otherwise, there are many rather pocket-size compact bit ratchets that are miles ahead of the LM bit driver.  It's why I bought the Bond the day they came out.  The multitool just got a reality check, and it ain't the Gerber Center Drive. The Bond is back to basics in the same vein as the PST. Nothing wrong with the Rebar, except outside the farm, the saw and serrated blade don't see as much use.

I have dozens and dozens.  These days I just rotate a skeketool, wave, and wingman in my pocket and that's about it.  I have no patience for multitools that don't have pocket clips.

I have a PST, an original Juice (lives in my bike bag), 2 Waves (one is a +) and a Surge.  Over the years, my original PST from 1988 went away with a son and my 1st gen Wave went away with another son.  I primarily care my Wave or Wave+ - always with a pocket clip.

I use my Surge regularly and my Skeleton next. My Crunch does not see as much use, but the locking pliers is such a great feature. I have had my eye on a Charge with the scales but have not pulled the trigger. I discovered the MUT long bits and they work great in the Skeleton and Surge for deeper reach. I like that the Skeleton can be used closed for more comfortable driving.

How did I miss this thread.... :dunno:

I definitely started off as a user of both LM's (and SAK's) and had several of each, going back 20 years or more.....wave, juice, micras a few others. Then decided i needed a spare Juice CS4 as they were no longer in production, mine was from the first year of production so wouldn't want to lose it etc.

Have always had a strong interest in EDC, long before I'd heard the term, then discovered this was "a thing", so started looking at reviews and websites which is what brought me to MTo.
Lurked here for years and kept seeing models that looked interesting so would add the odd one here or there, which became scouring ebay for bargains to a full blown collection. At this stage I needed a support group  so joined up properly and have since added many more is the truth.
Now it's more of a collection, SAK's particularly, over 100 and still adding (as Chako says it's easier after 100!). Once you discover something like mod 1908 or 1961 soldiers it can become quite obsessive  :gimme:

My collecting has slowed down having said that, I'm still regularly adding but having collected most of what i set out to do, I now just enjoy owning them, entering the monthly challenges with them (a really great way to enjoy your collection IMO), and generally mucking about with them. Do I use them all, no not in the slightest, but many of them, the aforementioned soldiers for instance, were always about collecting not using, I've many regular release models for use.

The good thing to me is it's a pretty harmless hobby, you can always sell them, unlike fancy restaurant meals for example (not that there's anything wrong with those either), and even if you make a loss you're probably not losing a huge amount. MTo is a fun place to post pics and discuss the various merits and drawbacks of a particular tool, show off your collection whether it's one or two or in the hundreds and find an appreciative audience...I really enjoy seeing everyone's collections and showing mine off. Hunting down a model and grabbing a bargain is all part of the fun

So both a user and a collector, but I'd only need a fraction of what i have for use

Now thats how you enjoy this hobby  :hatsoff:.  I too was a user long before MTO.  I bought some LMs on sale and picked up a SAK.  Once I came on MTO I thought it would be fun to collect the retired LM tools.  I learned the art of sniping and bought many I wanted pretty quick.  I then thought collecting PSTs and Mr Pinchy would be as fun.  It is but it wasn't the same "high" as a more broad collecting.

I was and am still a user so trying all the new to me tools was very fun.  The other side of my collecting is finding them.  I don't buy new and prefer to stumble upon them at my local flea market.  I've long stopped buying from flea bay.  The hunt there was fun and the sniping even more fun.

I was also picking up SAKs but never quite focused on anything.  Whatever venders had for sale that interested me I would buy.  Same for knives and other stuff.

At this point I am not seeking out  MTs.  If I should see one for sale at the flea market that I've wanted I will get it.  I am also not buying much SAKs either.  I see one that might have a value I may buy it.

Pretty happy with my rag tag collection of MTs I've amassed over the years.  I did have a huge clean out serval years ago.  I looked at my collection and didn't feel excitement about it.  What I've sone since is one and a while I go thru my collection fondling each tool and remembering how excited I was at the time I found it.

Most of my tool were never bought to use.  The enjoyment of then is the owning of them.  The ones I do use, I enjoy thoroughly.  I also give many away.  Last year some time I gave a Wave to a friend and he was so thrilled.  He sat down and opened it up and we talked about the tools and the accessories for it.

Its brought me to MTO which in and of itself was worth the price of admission.

In the last month or two I’ve bought a Leatherman Bond, PST, Rebar, and Supertool 300.  These are in addition to what I’ve already bought through the years.  Since I only have two hands I try to find a purpose/use for them.  I recently gave my daughter my like new Blast.  The Bond and PST are EDC.  The Rebar is in a “go bag” I’m keeping in my vehicle.  The Supertool is in a drawer with the idea of it doing household duties.  I have a old Wave in my Man Cave desk drawer.  Another Old Wave was given to my wife.  It is her go to when she needs a quick tool for something.  I have a Crunch that hasn’t been used much, but boy it’s been very helpful a time or two to do things the other tools are not really designed to do.  I kept it in my vehicle and archaeology field kit in better days.  I also have an older American made SOG Powerlock that was my one and only multitool for a few years, that is now feeling a little left out.

Is this excessive…no doubt, for me it is, but they are all just so tempting.  So I try to convince myself they have a purpose :-)

Oh I forgot, my Squirt PS4.  It’s always close by and often in my pocket for those days when I want the smallest, lightest tool in my pocket.

Well, I like to tell myself that I am "renting" my tools and SAKs. E.g., few weeks ago I found an unused LM Raptor+plastic sheath at a low price. I always had been curious about it and even though I should not be spending my non-existing funds on tools whatsoever, I bought it!  ::)  BTW it turns out it is MUCH more clunkier and ergonomic than I thought it was.

And now I'm selling it (which means that I put it on sale but nobody is interested BUT I am hopeful :).

This kind of rotating items satisfies my hunger and curiosity for tools, and also easier on my wallet.

I've carried a multitool, starting with the Leatherman PST, for about 30 years.

While they've all gotten some use, the truth is that I rarely use one, outside of fishing. Being realistic, the multitool has been more a tool of convenience for me, less of a "save the day" kinda tool. Still, I like to have a multitool handy because you never know.  :dunno:

I'm guilty of this.

I keep a Surge with a bitkit and ratchet in my car for emergencies (no emergencies have happened yet), I have a Black and Silver Wave in my desk that's too beautiful to use, and I have a Crunch in my toolbox just because I had to get one before they were gone.  I have a spare Crater C33 because I'm afraid they'll be discontinued and I wont be able to replace the one I use.  I have a spare Style PS for the same reason.

You'll never need to worry about getting a beer open again.

I'd say that peace of mind is worth the investment.
