I hear you...the Bond has quickly become a favorite for me and has replaced my edc Squirt (at least for the time being).

If I cough up $10 for the pocket clip, that might be just the ticket, but the lack of scissors might be the part that keeps the Bond in occasional carry status.

If the Rebar is any indication, that's easily remedied  :pok:

If they go back to the slim profile of the OG Supertool then yes  :tu: but if they still keep it the same width as the ST200 then no  :ahhh :D

Unless you mean some different kind of tools configure

Received the magnets in the mail today (4mmx1mm).  These are tiny little things sit nicely along side of the tip of the blade (I used two of them).  They work alright on the Bond.  Definitely keeps the blade down and in place.  They don’t pull the blade down into the body of the tool if the blade is already lifted up and out, but they do work to keep the blade down in the body of the tool and sitting in its proper place.  If they stay in place without getting moved with use, I would say they are a satisfactory (not stellar) remedy for the Bond blade issue (if it bothers you).  I said before that my blade was not lifting out on its own with normal use, but I suppose this magnet remedy does gives one a little more feeling of security that the blade is down and staying safely in place.

Like

And a correction...I’m using one magnet, not two.  The second would sometime stick to the blade.  A single magnet located more toward the tapered tip of the blade works just as well and stays in place when opening the blade.

FYI...Leatherman Heritage PST leather case (made in the U.S.A) does fit the Bond.  It’s snug, but it works fine.  I do think it’s a little ugly.  It looks a little nicer in person, but it definitely looked nicer on the Leatherman website pics.  Actually the leather pouch that came with my Rebar (made in Mexico) looks better IMO.  I don’t know what you all think, but my experience with the Heritage leather pouches has been a bit disappointing (sample size of #3 extra small, one large, and now this PST version).  They’ve all been functional, but nothing special compared to the ones Leatherman provides with many of their tools.  The leather on the heritage sheath does look and smell more natural than on the other.

First actual use of the Bond today to open a beer at the midpoint of a nice hike today.

Prior to the hike, I actually had the first real use.  One of the people from the hiking group was working on blisters on her feet and had a needle to pierce one.  She dropped it on the floor.  None of the aging eyes or numb old fingers could pick up a needle from the hardwood floor, so I whipped out the Bond and using the needle nose pliers was able to retrieve this tiny needle from the floor and return it to the lady with the blisters.

It really is an okay sheath.  I like enough to try it out for a while before putting the pocket clip on the Bond.

Yes, I do too.  The nylon is very nice.  I like it the most if I were going to choose one.  The nicest thing about the Heritage leather is that it is very form fitting and less bulky.  The nylon is a bit oversized for the Bond.

It's been a long time since I posted here. I came by to see your guys thoughts on the Bond. All I really could find on YouTube was unboxing videos and a couple of people complaining about the blade sliding out issue. Nice to see so many people posting their thoughts on the Bond here. Having carried it for the past week and a half I have very pleased with mine. I know it has a PST tool set and is a call back to its heritage. For me it reminds me of the Pulse just by its thickness and the way it feels. The Pulse being one of my all time favorite LMs the Bond feels right at home in my hand. The pocket clip has been a surprise also.  From all the pictures I've seen I was worried that it would stick out and be uncomfortable when using the pliers. Gladly that's not the case. It also clips nice a would to you pocket. As for the blade sliding out when using the pliers it has not happened to me at all in use. I just don't see it has being an issue. I have used many of the classic line of tools that have loosed up over the years that have had the inner tools slide out like that. All in all I have been very pleased to add the Bond to the collection.  Thanks for all your guys thoughts and pictures.

Sometimes I wedge a beer between rocks in a creek near the start of a hike so it will be nice and chilled upon my return.  :tu:

I thought about that, but the crew wanted to drink them at the waterfalls, not on the way back.  I did put mine in the water for about 5 minutes.

I was doing some drywall repairs today.  It involved a ladder and quite a bit of trimming and what not.  After just a few openings and closings, I abandoned using the Bond and ran up and grabbed my Wave.  I needed scissors.  That will not make me completely give up on the Bond, but it might not be the daily carry tool I hoped it could be.

The toolset is much more minimal than a Wave for sure :salute: it is a good lightweight carry option though :tu:

I have carried it more when I am just thinking something might or might not come up and if I am sure something will come up then I will carry something more substantial myself

Hi folks - today the bond I ordered arrived here.....after I played a bit with it, I don´t understand the hype about it.

I still prefer a PST or PST II over it because of the (felt) higher quality of the older tools (i.e. the file on the PST II), the lighter weight and the smaller package.

For a "lightweight" tool curved handles are not even necessary. - if you´re lucky, you even get 2 or 3 used pst´s for a bond.

With just a few gramms more but better toolset, I´d choose the rebar over the bond....

It is because it is an updated version of the PST and some of the tools are better on it (I guess that is a point of view) but the Phillips driver is much better (to me) on the Bond but I do agree that the Bond would have been better with a diamond file :salute:

The reason many are excited about the Bond is that it is a new tool that doesn't have locks and many in places around the world can't have locking tools, so this fits the bill as well

I also moved a ] to make the quotes correct in your post above  :salute:
