After some derping around with pivot tension, I've got this just where I want it. The tools don't open without some serious flinging, but one quick bonk, and it's all right there and ready to go.

There must be something better I could be doing with my time.

I know this makes the blade come out a tiny bit as well, but when you're misusing a tool like I am, your safety becomes your own responsibility.

Good job on the tension tweaking, Jothra :tu: I have done similar with mine and need to add some of the things that you have as well :dd: :like:

I got a Bond awhile ago, and rather than struggle disassembling it with a couple pairs of pliers, I waited for purpose-made tools to arrive from Russia (they took awhile, but arrived early!) Now I have a Bond with some extra Rebar tools I've had in the closet for years.

(Image removed from quote.)
I'm actually really surprised this fits so comfortably.

The tool closes properly. There is soft, loose clumping on everything but the main blade, which makes it very easy to get everything out. The main blade opens independently from the rest. I didn't have to add any extra washers (in fact, I have some left over.)

Here is the exact order of all the internal parts in this build:

(Image removed from quote.)
Left side, top to bottom: awl, large screwdriver, scissors, file, saw (there are no washers in this side at all.)
Right side, top to bottom: washer, medium screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, can/bottle opener, washer, main blade, washer.

This was fun, and will make a vanishingly small satchel-carry backup multi-plier!

Edit to add: I just discovered that in this configuration, I can open every tool without using my fingernails. Neat!

 :hatsoff:
That looks fantastic, and I have bookmarked it for future reference. :salute:

I tried Jothra's mod, except with the lanyard loop in place of the file next to the saw. With an extra tool crammed into each handle, they were just too tight for my comfort level. I already carry a SAK with scissors, so the mod was redundant anyway. It's a neat mod for the Bond, just not for mine.  :dunno:

Excellent pics, P-Dog.  I may have missed it, but why does your file has a groove and mine doesn't?  Are you special or something?   :salute:  Diamond file mod?

PST file put into the Bond frame maybe?

From up-thread:
[...]
The older PST II had the groove but newer ones don't  :tu: The reason being is that people used the groove more and it wore out quicker and people were sending them.in for warranty just to have the file fixed :ahhh So they lost the groove :D

Yes, it is a PST II diamond file  I did the mod as soon as I got the Bond :salute: Only a small bit of grinding and in she went :woohoo:

And yes, I am special

Well add me to another leatherman group. Today I received my new leatherman bond which I also had engraved as well. Don't know if I'm going to keep this bad boy in the box or take it out and carry it.

OK, I goofed up. I was trying to implement Jothra's mod for adding the saw and scissors to the Bond when I chickened out and put everything back together the way it was...except I lost track of the order of the spacers on both handles. There are thick and thin spacers and I can't remember which goes where. Can someone who has disassembled their Bond give me the order of tools and spacers in each handle?
Something like:
Thin
Blade
Thin
Can opener
etc.

Thanks!

I meant to look last night but did remember to bring the Bond with me today

file side is
thick washer
file
lanyard ring
thick washer
large flat driver
thin washer
medium flat driver
thin washer
awl
thick washer

knife side is
thick washer
phillips driver
thick washer
can opener
thin washer
knife
thick washer

The file side is the side I had apart and I am pretty sure I got it back the way it was suppose to be but I might have a washer wrong :salute:

I only have three thick washers. I think whoever assembled mine used multiple thin washers in place of some of the thick ones. At least now I know the correct geometry. Thanks!

If I'm remembering correctly, my Bond's thick washers are also just doubled-up thin washers.

Well, that explains it!
I've managed to get the washers and tools into a configuration that seems to be working. I think it's as close to the factory configuration as I'll be able to get it without swapping out the saw again.

Used the Bond to "help" assemble some recent purchases by the "Dept. of Good Ideas" (D.o.G.I)
As is so often the case, the "D.o.G.I" failed to consult with the "Dept. of Works" (D.o.W)  :twak:

This led to much wailing  :poh: (colourful expletives) and gnashing of teeth

Awl has "mostly" been resolved and, as an upside, the Bond has a brand new Pocket Clip  :tu:
They don't like it up 'em!
