Anybody have a good tool hacks they care to share?
Here's what I have to start off.
A couple short pieces of rubber hose can cover the jaws of a pair of pliers so they won't damage plated surfaces, when not in use they can be stored on the handles.
A quick release drill chuck for a 1/4" impact driver can be used as a file handle. The same applies to a tap wrench.
A bolt with a 6mm head can be used as a 6mm allen key. How do you hold the bolt? tap wrench. This of course applies to all sizes of bolts, granted you can fid a tap wrench that will hold them.
Locking pliers (vise grips) clamped around the shaft of a tired hood strut will keep a hood up.
Need a bolt to stay in a socket so you can thread it into a tight space you can't reach? Wrap the bolt head with paper before putting it in the socket, the paper should hold it tight enough to start a thread.
