SAKs & Lanterns
on: October 30, 2021, 11:53:15 AM
It occurred to me recently, while dealing with temporary lighting issue, that there is a category in SAKs & ... that hasn’t been covered. That category would be SAKs & lanterns.

It struck me that if we, as a demographic, have mindset of preparedness enough to own such superlative pocket tools, then we will probably be equally prepared in other aspects of domestic readiness.

Most of us will have an emergency lantern as a source of light for when the power vendors fail to provide us with the necessary volts to heat a bulb. I personally have a mixture of lanterns (paraffin, petrol or battery) and tend gravitate to whichever fuel source is plentiful or close to hand at the time.

My SAK is instrumental in the maintenance of these lanterns as, apart from the battery one, they generally need fettling from time to time.

So here’s my pitch. Does your SAK suitably service your secondary source  of light? (Gotta love a bit of alliteration).
Let’s hear from all those that are sufficiently equipped to shine when the lights dim.

No SAK Lites here. Carry a pocket flashlight (torch in Britspeak) all the time (along with my trusty Tinker) and have several high lumen (2400 lumen) house torches (or lanterns in Americanish  ;).) Besides, Kerosene smells bad and is a fire hazard should a kerosene torch fall over. ;)

It's very cool, foggy and windy here today - perfect London weather.
