Back again conFUSEd...
on: January 19, 2022, 02:52:56 PM
So here I am back again scratching my head once more...I ordered a new 5amp plug and extra fuse then the 2nd hand multi tool I bought came this morning...same 130w 230v 50hz
But this tool has a 13amp fuse in the plug... Can two tools with the exact same spec use such different fuses and be safe? :dunno:

Some tools may draw more current when they start, but it will not be that much more than the stated. Generally the factory fuses used allow for that variation.

If the fuse is not an integral part of the plug, that is if it can be changed, then maybe someone replaced the original fuse, after it blew, with a 13A one.

This may be innocent, because he/she did not know better, or intentional to stop the fuse in an unsafe tool from blowing all the time.
