Boker Tech Tool on 93mm Alox
on: March 06, 2022, 12:44:22 PM
Out of curiosity and before I have a go, has anyone tried to replace the main blade on a 93mm alox with the blade from the Boker Tech Tool. They look similar but I don’t know if the back spring profile is compatible or adaptable.  This is nothing more than a vanity project to get a 12C27 blade on a standard SAK.
Any insight gratefully received.

The published specs make me think it’s not going to fit with the original profile in a 93mm frame. The differences in exposed blade length are about 10mm. While that alone wouldn’t be completely insurmountable, depth of the blade and it’s profile make me think it’s just too big and tall to nest the edge into the frame leaving the edge as-is.  At least not without the choil sitting between the scales when open.

I’d have to have the parts in hand to be absolutely certain though.

If you’re willing to reprofile the blade, however, seems like that would be possible.

I think you’re right K. More wishful thinking on my part. The small difference in length aside the Boker has much more belly to it, which alone makes it incompatible as is. Oh well, interesting thought experiment. Thanks for the response. Always appreciated.

The 4th hidden pin in the Boker Tech Tool is not going through the blade layer to make room for more blade (at the cost of not having any back-layer tool). So my guess is, the blade is too large.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Thanks for the input Etherealicer. All indications would seem to suggest I’m barking up the wrong tree.  :dunno:
