Leatherman Signal T-Shank
on: May 05, 2022, 07:13:17 PM
I am wanting to replace the saw in my Signal with a T-shank driver. I saw on YouTube the guy from TXToolCrib had done this and I messaged him but have received no response.

I have the T-shank driver from another tool, but am not sure what would be needed to adapt this into where the saw is now.

Has anyone done something like this?

G'Day,

I tried this long time ago. It is not a direct drop-in change. The adaptor is wider than the saw space, I suspect you will have to remove / severely bend the saw locking mechanism to get it to fit, let alone have any clearance either side. You can possibly remove some of the outside framework which should get you the clearance that you need.

Cheers, Pete

First, Pete, love the boxer logo. I ride a 2022 R1250GS. Have had many others over the years and finally got a new one. Just love it.

I tried to test fit it and you are right. The lock mechanism would have to be removed completely I think, which is less favorable. I may try another of my Leatherman’s to do this swap.

Checked on Shapeways
Closest thing is from Zap Wizard for the Free P4, maybe you could ask him, if he could adopt it for the Wave/Charge family (I'm sure other people would be interested too).

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I had thought the exact same thing when I got my Signal.  I test fit an Old Style Surge Blade Exchanger in a Signal.

It would be some work thats for sure.  When I did the same on my Wave I had to remove some of the frame on the Wave to fit it in.  Certainly not a drop in mod.

This is excellent, just what I was looking for. I did not expect it would be drop in, just needed to know what work I needed to do and the link helps.

Aloha, you da man!

We have some amazing modders and I'm sure one or a few could make this happen.  In the Wave/Charge there was still a lot of frame to remove.  I didn't want to do that much to my Signal.  I didn't look at the Zap Wizard thing, maybe a that could work?

Heres how much work it was on my Wave.
