DAY 12  I  needed a smallish screwdriver to get to the battery compartment of this light.  It wasn't really optimal, but it got the job done.   :D

I say embrace the slump.  A big part of the fun is having your Spartan with you and ready for action - just in case.    :ahhh

Day 12. Rather warm. Was nearly called upon to cut large sheets of paper for an office "workshop" (which never seem to involve much working with proper  tools like lathe, bench, vice  tbh) ... but in the end some Walnut parcel opening at home was what got the pic

My sidekick was with me today (be here tomorrow too), so no uses today.
No cutting, no making holes, no screws in need of tightening, no bottles of any sort opened.  Still, it is ready and willing to help if the need arises.

I can say though that the little 91mm disappears in my pocket compared to my normal 4.5 inch stockman or jack.

Day 12

No uses today. Got the modern Spartan in my pocket today. Going with the mid 70s Standard tomorrow.

Also, I’m expecting an older Tourist (80s, I think) to show up by the end of the week!

Day 13: I switched all my scale tools over to the Serrated Spartan and got to it. I need to clean the Ruby Spartan tomorrow.

I packed up a box to be shipped and did some other assorted cutting, but I didn't get a photo. I also made a Walmart run today, and managed to not go nuts with Matchbox pegs that had something on them other than red '70s Hondas and a strange industrial truck.

Interesting Cody. You should start a collectors thread !
A buddy of mine from 25 years ago collected Matchbox, imagine his cool ones..
I only have an MG A and a Camaro, but not Matchbox.
Oh, one wind up from Germany, about 30 years old!

Day 12
with my Locksmith
:like: the scales on the Locksmith! I keep eyeing the Singaporean military Bantam with the rough black scales.

As usual, great work by awl!

Day 12

Like Cody6268, I packaged up a shipment without getting action shots. Early this morning, I used the big blade to cut the cellophane of my "instant lunch" and the awl to extract some nasty dehydrated veggies. Tomorrow I'll see about having the Spartan pose with one of a few die-cast vehicles I'm keeping. (The UK contingent will probably like it.)

Oh man, I can't STAND to have packing tape gunk on my SAK. To the point that I will often avoid using it to cut tape like that - even after I wash it off it still feels a little sticky...

I often use the tip of the corkscrew or back phillips to try to "break" the tape. Sometimes if you can just get it started, the tape will split as you pull up on the lid of the box.

Use the can opener. Much less blade to clean afterwards.

Strangely, I used the Spartan to open an Amazon package.  And just for Marlowe, there is some tape residue on the blade.

Marlowe221, how do you wash your gunked blades? With water? Don't. For tape residue, use rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol). Just stay clear from cellidor scales >:D
Best regards and stay safe,

Tape residue doesn't worry me greatly. As Tinker Gnome said, a swipe or three with a paper towel dampened with isopropyl alcohol or Zippo juice will remove all but the most persistent tape gunk. And likely it will melt Cellidor (I've heard isopropyl alcohol will do the same to newer magnifiers).

Day 13

The Spartan posed with one of the few die-cast vehicles I can't bear to get rid of: a Corgi Austin Mini (which Austin called the Se7en) by Corgi.

Thanks for the tip!

I usually use water and a little dish soap. But sometimes I guess I get a little sloppy - I sometimes find I need to re-oil the blade I just washed because it gets stiff to open afterwards.

But alcohol on a paper towel or rag sounds like a better solution. I have a bottle of 91% around that I use on the contacts of old computer/electronics components.
