Victorinox Compact with 58mm combo tool
on: June 10, 2022, 03:46:27 PM
Hi there!

It's been a long time since I'm looking for a small phillips screwdriver that'll fits on small AND big phillips headscrews.

I've been doing some modification on my EDC Compact and this came out:

  • Swapping the Hook for the 58mm combo-tool (magnetised and compatible with a ENORMOUS range of headscrews
  • Thicker old main blade

Here we go:

This compact is my "mule" for modding so the scales are not in great shape...

I'm EDCing it for a few days and then decide if it worths the work or not :)

Cool mod!   I love the Compact, but if I'm being truthful I've never found a good use for the hook.   I like the *idea* of the hook, but in practice I just end up not using it.  So this little mod is perfect.  Way to go!

Fantastic mod - as Myron says, not really sure what the hook is for, only the nail file on the back redeems it! Great work! :like: :like:

The 58mm driver is a lot smaller than a tinker driver.

The 58mm driver is a lot smaller than a tinker driver.

You can compare them on different Phillips screws size and you’ll be surprised!

For my own use, I’m facing a lot of smaller Phillips everyday (electronics …)

Sorry to bring up an old thread.  But I am interested in doing this.  @bismouth, did you have to modify the 58mm combo tool or did it "drop in"?

Hey Tom, Hopefully Bismoth shows up to explain. I am looking for another thread that went into detail that I remember. In the thread I believe it was shown that the bottle opener portion had to be ground like in Bismoths photos, as well as redrilling the pivot hole. I will post here if I find it.
