First gift, I took the dog out for his morning duties, then when I came in the Mrs already had a plate of breakfast for me, not a norm, but she made me one of my fav, “eggs in a basket” pretty simple but great if you love over easy eggs and toast! Cause you take bread and use like a shot glass to cut the center out, thus where you put the egg, and then as the egg cooks to your liking, so does the bread making it toast, you also throw in the centers you cut out giving you a little something to wipe up the yoke, simple yet good meal..

Both my girls are now old enough to understand a little of what today is all about, and they already had some practice on Mothers' Day, so technically this is my first proper Fathers' Day...
I got up early, as Sunday is Her Ladyship's lie-in day... completely forgetting what today actually was.
Wrestled the girls down from their excitement at a brand new day, got them dressed and downstairs, as well as letting our little pack of dogs outside. I got as far as halfway through making breakfast-in-bed for the wife, before she came storming down to give me a right boll...err... telling off (no swearing in front of kids), for several things:
- Today is Fathers' Day and I was supposed to be relaxing... even though no-one specifically told me this was the plan.
- I'm barely two days into recovery from vasectomy surgery and, according to doctor's advice, shouldn't even be upright yet.
- Our youngest is supposed to be potty-training and so wearing a dress, yet I'd fully nappied her and put her in jeans.
- Her Ladyship is not feeling so great herself today and all this is just additional tension.
- Just because!!
So yeah, with two girls at either end of the 'Terrible Twos' and running around like possessed banshees, a wife with the right hump, and the Baby Shark song stuck in my head all day, it was a bit of a struggle... but we managed to find a happy, relatively calm place and generally hovered around that zone. It was my 'special day', but I ended up making everyone pizza for dinner, because my jealously guarded gluten-free paleo recipe is the best and no-one does it like me... well, no-one else does it at all, to be fair, but I enjoy cooking for people and I got to open a few cans and stuff with the Climber I chose to carry today!!
Goodies can't be shown, as they're photos of the kids. I'm building two walls of these picture tile things, to follow both daughters as they grow up, y'see, and it means no-one is stuck for present ideas.
I realise this may all sound pretty weird, but we have an odd dynamic if you don't know us well enough and, strange as it may sound... today was a good day!!

Doesn't sound weird or stange to me. Its sounds like fatherhood
. I miss those days of little ones scampering about the house. The noise and commotion of it all was something I enjoyed. The energy, the flurry of little ones, the sticky hands, the toys strewn about, all of it. They went fast thats for sure.
Glad you enjoy your fathers day.
My girls messaged me then called. I worked all day. It was nice just to have a chat with them. We laughed, reminisced, then talked about random things. Its those simple things I enjoy most about begin a father. Well, that and looking at them, soaking in how they've matured.
