Day 12
Comis's Brisa and coffee picture inspired me to switch back to my Brisa Necker 70 for the day.  The Bobtail 80 and the Necker 70 are essentially the same knife with a slightly different handle.  I might have bought the Bobtail if I'd seen it first, although, I really like the Necker 70 in red.  I especially like to play with the octopus/Kraken bead I have on the lanyard.  So, even though I have my SAK Knights coins in the picture, my fidget for the day is the brass Kraken bead.

  I had the scandi grind Necker for a pretty long while, and somehow I had always wish there is half an inch more grip on that knife.  Eventually, I cave in and get the Bobtail(this time with a FFG) and rarely go back to the Necker.  But you are right, they are essentially the same knife, just with different handle.

Day 12

Once more, WFH and so nothing doing.
I don't drink at all, and the Mrs usually goes for something with screw caps or very occasionally corkscrews, but she does also tend to use her own Mountaineer for that.
So it is a considerable rarity that I've actually gotten to use the bottle opener today:

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

However... some bright spark decided it'd be a fantastic idea to go out in the baking hot weather tomorrow, surround ourselves with sweaty tourists, and subject Tasky to the EDCectomy that is Windsor Castle Security...... Now, this basically means you can have NOTHING with a blade or cutting feature, not even scissors.

IMO, this would invalidate my entry in this event, as I'd not be carrying half the kit required by the challenge... so if GearedForwards judges that to be so, I will bow out and wish the rest of you the best of luck.

Good to see another Mountaineer user, I know Huntsman has been one of the most popular model in SAK 91 lineup, but I always think Mountaineer is a more versatile tool than Huntsman.

Day 12
I didn’t change anything up today, so a glamour shot of one of my favorite pairs that is part of my carry
(Image removed from quote.)
Nice carry, I don't know whether it is just me but I do like paring a traditional with a SAK or MT, the interesting contrast has good aesthetics together, yet functional.

Day 13

Decided to try a 'catch (almost) all' pouch carry, throwing most things into the Firefly 15 pouch with the rest going in my pockets, the watch on the wrist and hand gel on my belt loop. It worked really well, the pouch wasn't stuffed full, and it carried really flat in the pocket despite the amount of gear and additional notepad. The fidget for the day was the Zippo slim (now empty from evaporation) whilst the Bic contingent stepped up to fire duty.

(Image removed from quote.)

(Image removed from quote.)
That's a good looking pouch!  I have been trying to update my own EDC carry in my backpack, and am searching for different lightweight pouch to try out.

Day 13 (catch up)

One of my favorite tool on Spirit is the Chisel tool, it's perfect for wood work, especially making a feather stick.  Also great for opening packages, so I don't punctuate anything inside the box.

Day 14

Played with the Spirit MX scissors today, no change there from the original spirit.  If there's one anything I wish on this tool, is simply put in a 91mm scissors or make it open a little wider(like what our modders do on subforum).

Powernoodle Day 14

Since my pockets are not loaded enough, I've added a box cutter for the last two days.  I can foresee a box cutter Challenge in my future.  I'll consider this my fidget item today, as flicking the blade in and out is addictive.  Pro tip:  replace it with a carbide blade for longer life.

The Screwpop utility knife is the smallest, easiest to EDC utility knife I have found that still gives good utility:

PN, if you do like lightweight box cutter, do check out the Muji stainless steel mini cutter.  It weighs less than 10g(0.35oz), retractable and still offer a pretty usable 3/4" cutting length.

Day 13

Well, wouldn't you believe it.......
So the night before we head off to Windsor Castle, the in-laws come over. We remind ourselves and each other several times about not taking a blade in, with the obvious focus on me. The next morning the same conversation happens.
So we get to the security check, I spend 5 minutes yanking everything out of my pockets, getting wand-scanned on all the metallic parts of my clothing, especially the toecaps, then another 5 minutes loading all my "useless junk and kitchen sinks" back into said pockets, all nice and clear..... only to find that doddery old Dad was still carrying the LM Micra I gave him one Christmas... and that they let him through with it!!
It seems a 69-year-old expressing surprise at being caught out is not considered a security threat.....

Day 14

Back to a full load, and this time off round the shops... purely because they're air-conditioned.
All the usual uses, from snotty noses to scraping Play-Dough out of pots. About the only one of note was lopping the rather long product labels off the latest soft toy:

Today I used my pliers based tool, the Victorinox Spirit to pull some jammed staples out of a stapler that had otherwise been rendered completely useless.

Day 14

Another no-use day, aside from package opening and an aborted TV wall mount installation (no action shots of either). The red Alox Bantam rotated back in, and posed with some infrequently used items.

Day 15

Swap out the mini cutter to a ZT707.  If someone would have told me this is a new ZT 10 years ago, I probably would think this is April fool joke.  Over the years, I think many enthusiasts probably have associated ZT brand with overbuild design(or at least they are aiming to be), so it is quite surprising to see this ultralight design coming from ZT.

Here's pretty much everything.  I'm no longer carrying a fixie due to a workplace restriction.  I will pick it up again when I can, approximately 8 days from now give or take a few hours.

Day 15

It's been a quiet day for the challenge, but not at the Farmer X homestead, as a fair bit of the loadout saw use. (See the Locks Up! Challenge for further details.) The pen was used to write out a reminder about bandanas that have been seen, as well as bandanas and marbles that will be seen. Some packages were opened with the olivewood Opinel No. 6. Awlso seen: my marble storage system. :D

Day 14
Sunday I was having fun experimenting with different organizer pouches but then settled on the below.

I am anxiously awaiting a new pouch that I have high hopes for.  If I’m lucky it will arrive by the end of the week.

Day 15
I didn’t change up anything from Sunday, except the sheath for the Essential.  The Bradford 3 arrived today so I tested it out.

For both days the 58mm was a Rambler with my keys that also included a Mateminco CSF04

Day 15

Got out and about a little today.
The dog has some new wheels, so spent some time round the local park making adjustments and getting them to fit him well enough.
Managed to get a magnifier shot of this bug on one of the kiddie play things:

Nah, that's the easy part - Open mag, then hold SAK in right hand while getting phone out with left. Use right finger to unlock phone and open camera app.
The harder part is aligning the lens with the mag and getting everything in focus... Took me a good half-dozen shots, I think!

Sorry to disappoint, it is just the Bradford 3 sheath that I’m trying out with the Essential.  Although, I will admit it was really tempting to just purchase the Bradford 3 for the sheath.

The Bradford 3 is right up there with the Battle Horse Woodsman and LT Wright GNS or Bushcrafter.

Transitioning today from the Spyderco Dragonfly to the Myerchin titanium rigging knife as my dedicated folder.  I've been a big fan of the Myerchin titanium rigging knives for years. They are so light weight you can't even tell you're carrying them. This one weighs about the same as the Dragonfly but adds the utility of an extra tool, the marlin spike.

Didn’t do too much change today, just an Opinel as a folding knife and back to a Zippo.  For carry, I put both SAKs in the smaller organizer and the Opi with the Mt and flashlight.

I used Farmer X, Opi and Zippo outside.  The Essential probably would have been a better choice for the wood splitting, but the Opi usually stays in my outdoor cooking bag so I decide to use it.

I really should have a rigger's knife. The Myerchin seems like a good one. I'll put it on the must get eventually list.

Day 16

The eponymous SAK rotated in. I've awlso neglected to show the Olight's current lanyard (yes, I dislike polyester paracord that much).
