Day 08

Today is an OG fixed Kershaw Skyline, I use this in a kydex sheath as a neck knife, which it's just barely acceptable for me. Cut open some sausages and some bills, but that's about it!

Not particularly good day for the Wayne Camillus :(
Two tasks and for both another tool was needed.
Massey Ferguson multitool for Renault’s oil check and Wine Master for a bottle of Ripasso:

Day 09

I was joking when I suggested anyone might want to use a big dirk for this challenge, but I had actual need for it today.  I still have the Mora Eldris in my pocket and even managed to clean the smell of teriyaki squid off of it with some Clorox Sani-wipes.  The Eldris is an excellent utility knife for EDC, with many uses, and perfect for a rainy day because it is nothing but stainless steel and plastic, but the whole thing is only as long as the handle of the dirk.  The short overall length makes it easy to carry but it is useless as a back scratcher.  The dirk, however, was quite up to the task and I didn't even have to remove it from its sheath.  Very satisfying.  That's the long and short of it.

No use.  Went to a kid's party today, and Eldris made a fine company in the pocket.

My daughter wanted to make a wooden staff for her Halloween costume. She went out in the woods and picked a branch, then asked if I could skin the bark off. Since the branch had been dead a while, the Western 66 made easy work of it.

Her creativity was on high today.

Day 9 Part 2

As shared previously, I did locate some fresh chicken, chicken thighs, about 5 lbs.
A lovely afternoon, cool but sunny.
I tried putting it off, but late afternoon almost 5Pm I gave in….  Uncovered the Weber, fired up with only one click of the starter!🤪

Went inside, unwrapped my packaged, cut away excess skin ad fat, washed the pieces, Salted, and introduced to the grill.

Babied them over medium heat for indirect cooking for an hour, then increased heat, added center burner, and cooked a bit longer with the lid up.

Checked temps, out of practice I will admit, but  180 degrees the pieces checked.

Prepared my transport pan and one more final shot!
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Selected two pieces for my dinner, actually enjoyed three…
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

So very tasty😁

I must confess, this was a first for me, you see I had not turned on my grill since my wife passed away in spring of 2021. Never touched it that year. This spring I told myself I was going to return to normal, and prepped the grill, cleaned the spider webs, drip tray, cleaned down the grated and ordered a new temperature gauge.
AND, it sat idle until this afternoon late😔.
I promised myself, and you AWL part of this challenge, TODAY was the day to heat it UP and enjoy the FLAVOR.
thank you for sharing and continued support, to each of you AWL!
Now I got 7 more pieces for lunches, dinner of even late night snack :woohoo:
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 9: I used the Western Crosstrail to unpack a new printer, but I didn't get a photo.

I had been looking at the AMT Construction Bulldozer kit (originally issued by AMT and ERTL as a CAT D8H, but Round 2 didn't bother to get the license for the reissue; and Walmart had it for a really good price.

I happened to have a Craftsman Custom Skinner (badge-engineered Schrade USA Uncle Henry Golden Spike) sitting on my desk at the time.

I've gotten this far, although I did get the intake manifold on after I took these photos.

Tommorrow, I finish up the engine by installing the exhaust manifold/turbo assembly, water/cooling manifold, and some assorted plumbing. I will then start on the undercarriage/frame.

Day 9
Mora saw sandwiches. Packaging, and more cardboard today.
For the pics I am still playing with night mode on my camera. Yesterday's pic wad just after sundown but the only light in these is the ambient suburban glow and my Jeep's map light. This is just a random man-made lake common on this side of the city (work takes me all over).
Note one pic the knife is in focus, the other the lake.
The camera really brightens a black sky to dusky blue too.
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

Bring out a BOTM Buck Woodsman to play, didn't expect it to be this pretty when I first got it and probably will plan to just use it very lightly, if at all.

Nice view!  You'd probably know this, but just a very friendly tip, if you step further away from the knife, and zoom back onto it, you could probably get both the lake and knife in focus.

What's inside the box?  :pok: :D  Lamnia probably my favorite dealer from Europe, great service.

Two razor style folders to fill the rasolino corner of my folder stash.
Artisan Cutlery Orthodox razor in satin and United Cutlery Black Ronin Razor.

The Orthodox is what I was looking for. The BR Razor was bit of a spur of the moment due to the nice looking blade despite the end ring which should've warned me. As it turns out it really is more of a 'tactical cleaver' than rasolino so  I am not certain of its usefullnes to me. Maybe I'll just drop it into the pocket of outdoor working trousers at the proper moment and see how that goes.

In any case both seem well made for the price so can't really complain. A new knife is always a new knife eh?
