Pretty interesting blade shape, what I like most about modern knife is the synthetic handle material, and the fact that you can fully dissemble the handles for cleaning and kydex shealth.

The blade shape is really different to anything else I own and thought a new knife for my birthday was in order....arrived over a month later but   :mail:
First impressions are really good  :tu:

Day 19

Time for some quick tests of the Catchall, thought I’d go a bit Doug Marcaida on the cactus, obviously don’t have his skills so got the angle a bit wrong …but got most of the way through in one stroke…not bad on the spuds either

Thanks for all the compliments on my 113.  Buck really did a nice job on it.

New knife means testing at prep twigs for camp stove coffee

The BK3313 Sons of Anarchy hawksbill was close at hand when I wanted to open a vanilla protein shake for a late snack, so that's what I used.

I wish I'd have thought of that! It would be an easy fix for a sheath I'm otherwise not fond of.

Y'awl really have me interested in getting hold of more fixed blades. For now, I only own the one (kitchen cutlery excepted): this Morakniv Garberg.

Day 19:
Changing Corvid for Iisakki Järvenpää.
This well used puukko is the course knife from my officer training course back in ’86 - ’87.
I carried and used it on all field exercises and it has seen some use ever since. Unit insignia on sheath says KarTR - Karjajan tykistörykmentti; Karelian Field artilery Regiment.
No. 1 field artilery unit in the country since 1918

@Lefty - that is beautiful knife and sheath with a greater story, assigned used by an even better man 👍

Thank you for sharing! 😎

Someday I do hope to visit your part of the world.   Finland, Sweden and Norway, along with stop in British Isles and Iceland during transit.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 19 -

Coffee with breakfast made me a tad EDGY mid morning, so I ventured out for a stroll in cool damp weather and see how the neighborhood has prepped houses for Halloween!
It did  wonders for me enjoying the brilliant son shine on return trip.  Came up through the back of the property and caught the chatter of three varieties of woodpeckers enjoying suet at different stations.  And NO PHONE to catch pictures😔

My field guide fortunately has all three on same spread, held open by my Buck 684 that is riding on belt today.

I've had so much going on lately, I've fell a second day behind. Been looking at what's planned for the next couple of weeks and decided I'm gonna bow out for now. Good luck to everyone on completing the challenge, and I hope you all get another badge for your collections. Enjoyed it, hope to see you on a future challenge.

GA1dad, I hope everything is ok.  Make up days are allowed if you want to put up a couple of extra pictures and catch up. Otherwise your input will be sorely missed.  Remember, there is a giveaway that everyone who completes the challenge is eligible for.

Day 19:

Used the  AG Russell Woodswalker to cut paracord to make a  lanyard for an old yardstick.

The Woodwalker is designed for, and comes with a sheath designed for back pocket carry. It cut through that sheath quickly, and I've mostly used it as a paring knife. Currently, it's in the paracord box.

However, in the pocket of my coat was the Hunter Scalpel's full-size brother, the Deer Hunter--which has a 4" blade.

It fits in a pocket great, but still too big. I'm probably looking at a Gerber Buddy System (which was designed  by Blackie Collins, but still uses the push-button hard sheath design he co-developed with AG Russell), as an AG Russell Bird and Trout is hard to find. Took me a year to find the Deer Hunter. It's the original ATS-34 version. Later, 440C and D2 versions were made.  However, the tooling was lost about a decade ago.

Congratulations on winning the September giveaway and thank you for contributing to the operations of the site.  SurgeUK (Darren) is absolutely a legend.  Just ask him.  So, the D2 Bushcrafter is going to see some use during the challenge isn't it? :pok: :pok:

Thanks Alan   :tu:

Some use? Indeed, but with the normal caveat that being in Australia I can't really take it very far from home
