Why when you search the forum for a topic and nothing comes up and then you search using different key words it limits your search for 45 seconds?

Example -

A search query can be quite intense on the database. So they are limited by this measure.

yes, it's to keep too many queries from overloading an already very large and busy database.

I suppose we have upgraded since we set that, but the forum has also grown hugely since then too!
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
