   I sifted my way through the maze of postal prices and discovered that the Medium Flat Rate Priority Mail Box is now $18.40.  I think.  It was $17.10 last time I shipped anything (Dec 2023).
    So anyone who ships the SoS surprise box will now need an extra buck thirty.  On the plus side, you can sit there and giggle about how the last person to hold the box had to shell out the extra money to get it to you. 
    Of course, if you need a new box to ship, the boxes are still free.  Pick them up at the post office.  There are two types of medium priority flat rate boxes.  A long flat one that opens on one end, and one that opens on top.  They hold the same amount, but the one that folds up to make a box that opens on top is easier to pack.  Best wishes.  G

Decided to work on that SwissTool I pulled from the box.  The bottle opener was broken right in the middle and 2 of the 4 rivets were pretty loose, the other 2 were just a little loose.  A lot of the tools were also pretty dinged up.  Tackled the broken bottle opener first.  Cut a new bottle opener into the remaining material and cut a little notch for a finger nail to pull it open.

I tested it on a bottle last night and it worked perfectly.


Cleaned up all the dings in the tools by working my way up to 2000 grit sand paper and then hit them with some Flitz.  Sharpened the blade to razor sharp.  Also worked on the rivets to tighten them, no more play in the tools or pliers.  Thank you to who ever donated it!  It will definitely get used!

I can see it.  That's a real good repair on that though.  I'm not sure I would've had the imagination to try that out.

    Anybody hear anything about the box?  Last I heard Bigshep was going to mail it.  Far as I know it is still in Alabama. 
    By the way, I was at my local post office yesterday to pick up a package.  The new rate for the surprise box shipping (Priority Rate Medium Flat Rate Box) is now $18.40.  For those who don't know that includes a $100 insurance on the box and a 3 day or so arrival time.  At the time of shipping, the sender gets a ticket with a tracking number.  That number should be sent to the new recipient.  A PM is the easy way to do that.

Just sent the last known holder a PM. If I don't hear from him in a week or two, I'll just pack up a box and start anew. Lord knows I have enough stuff I'd like to divest myself of.
