Pioman? Nope, Yeomaneer!

I picked this up on eBay one night after a couple beers. You know, one of those "Of course I need that" moments.
When it arrived I saw that it was poorly assembled. One of the tubes was too long so even though the screws were tight, there was an ugly gap between layers on one end. And someone had sanded down the lifting stud on the magnifier. It was darn near impossible to get the magnifier open, and even when you did, it meant it was now all fingerprinty. So I disassembled it, sanded the offending tube down just a hair, and replaced the magnifier with one from a donor Explorer.
I carried it a few times and really liked it. Then @Simyo (Tim) dropped me a line to say he had fabricated some new brass liners, so I sent it off to him and had him install a set. This was the icing on the cake, and now it's the best-looking Yeoman/Pioneer mashup out there!
Tim and I decided that Yeomaneer was way better than Pioman.

Pretty neat mod!
I'm guessing it's on a 93mm frame?

Nice! That one has been on my wishlist for a while (actually, I'm gathering the parts at this very moment). Unfortunately, I will probably have to settle for the ordinary shield instead of an old cross.

Thanks all! Yup, it's a standard 93 mm Pioneer frame.
The only thing that had to be modified to make it work is the magnifier had to be sanded flat on its bottom edge. Without this, it sits up too high when in the closed position. But otherwise, everything works and looks great!

This is my ideal SAK build for office EDC, but I’ve not seen one with alox scales. I think It’s about time I start building one.

Really nicely saved. Love those liners and the toolset is great. And Explorineer could be another variation that has got me thinking about taking apart some of the collection already!
Red alox - perfect.

Myron, can you please show us the Phillips/magnifier layer in closed position? Also, do you know how close the filed bottom is to the glass? I'm planning a mod and I'm trying to decide between the "classic" rounded magnifier and your flattened version.
