Here is one that I used some in the SAK-alike challenge:

(Image removed from quote.)

I was surprised to find out it is a decent multitool knife. Worth the $10 - $12 I paid for it  :tu:

I have thought about installing the scissors in my Armbar Drive, for they are definitely better. However, it struck me this morning that this may be a good starter knife for my grandson if he can operate the slide lock mechanism. He certainly couldn't stab himself (or me!) with that blade.

Good price for that one :salute: and yes, it seems like that would be a great option to get him started with :tu: :like:

Here is a Craftsman that crosses the line between TL-29 and multitool:

Here is a Chinese single handle MT (are we being watched?) that I added a few implements to:

The scissors are the star of the original tool  :tu:

It works pretty good, though it is no Charge knife  :tu:

Free T4 (and my finger )

If this was my only MT knife, I would be happy. But it is not my only MT knife, and I find myself almost never carrying it.

Here is my first MT knife:

The Multiforce is a great value MT ($40), but I think that it is even better when you condense the best components into one handle.

Nextool 12 in 1 multitool knife

That is my apprentice Matt in the second photo.

Nextool's take on the multitool knife. The handle appears to be made for this knife and not as a handle from a full multitool. Unfortunately, none of the inside tools lock. But the scissors appear to be okay.

I will compare these scissors to the scissors in the other Chinese MT knife I showed here on the 25th to see which are better.

I will also check to see how much work would be involved to install the scissors in a Wave/Charge. The other Chinese scissors were not hard to install, but it did take some grinding to make it work.

The Nextool scissors cut about as well as the other Chinese scissors. The scissors are a bit less comfortable to use, but are polished as opposed to bead blasted.

Some material will need to be removed in order for the scissors to engage the liner lock. I did it by eye (a little at the time, of course) with the other scissors. The Nextool scissors are shaped a bit different near the pivot, but not too much IMO.

Some material may need to be removed from the top of the scissors near the pivot. I remember that this area stuck out a bit too much for comfort:

Here is a more recent variation on the Chinese single handle MT knife:

The inside tools lock (unlike the Nextool) and imo are an upgrade over what was offerred in the first variation. I found that I had 3 of these, so I must be planning on doing some modding  :dunno:

Here’s a newer one:  Fox Vulpis

F&F is excellent, and the tools click open and closed with SAK-like precision.

I haven’t had a chance to test all of the tools yet, but did confirm that the blade and cap lifter work.  The cap lifter is a bit fiddly about only seating on the cap if it is held at just the right angle, but once engaged, removes the cap in a single motion.

The only major downside so far is that I feel like the Vulpis is an odd size and doesn’t quite know what it wants to be, or what niche it wants to fill.  It’s too small to be a solid woods tool like some of Vic’s 93 mm knives.  But’s it’s too big and bulky to be a good key chain knife or gentleman’s KBMT.  Perhaps the two-layer version will be a better fit than this four-layer version in one of the latter categories.
