I can see where some times it is not really worth it, but when it comes to Vic or Spyderco for example I regard it as a real plus point.  I take great comfort in the fact that as long as I use it sensibly, these great companies will cover any failure that is highly unlikely to occur.  That makes a huge difference to me.
I'm back!!

From my experience, vic and leatherman tend to be very forgiving when it comes to warranty. However Spyderco don't really do any repairs, if they can not tweak your knife enough to work they either send it back to you as is or tell you time to buy a new one (unless it's a brand new one, then they may replace it).

I'm with Ben on all his points :salute: (Mikey dared me to say that! :P )

If you buy a cheap blade/tool with no or a poor warranty and it breaks/fails, you have to buy another one.
Say you spent 20 bucks on it, chances are your not going to get the same blade/brand again, and you
then spend 40 bucks on something you hope is better, with a slightly longer warranty (if any).
if it breaks/fails again, now your out 60 bucks that could have gone to a quality/long warranty blade.

I feel I'm taking a chance/gamble on a cheap tool I could really need in the future, (survival situation),
personally I don't like that. That's why Lifetime and Reputation are important for me. I like Busse (clan)
blades because they are Lifetime of the blade warranties, my kids-kids (etc) can have them replaced
(if their is a world/civilization to replace it!) but until then, just knowing they and companies like them
will do that (in writing) makes me feel better.

judge others by how they treat those they are allowed to mistreat

Plus Not only do you have to look at the replacement cost of a cheep tool but the hassle. Look at me with the suspension. I had to take time out of my day on two occasions to return the piece of filth.
