New leather wallet
on: September 01, 2023, 05:09:42 PM
I've had some wallet models in the last years. The first one I made was very thin and I liked it a lot, but it only carried 4 cards. You can see it here:

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,82436.msg1996265.html#msg1996265

Then, I made another model, good for 8 cards, but the bills were in the outside, folded in 3, instead of just folded in half. More info here:

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,74435.msg2388617.html#msg2388617

So, back to the drawing board and I got a new version of the first one, with two slot for cards (8 in total) and a couple of bill/receipts holders. Very recent, but I'm liking it so far.

I like the thin, lightweight approach.  The two stretchers that you sewed into the final wallet to organize the bank notes was very clever.
I personally hate a thick, bulky wallet.  It hurts to sit on it.  Great construction.  Nice, tight stitching.  Like the leather a lot.  Best wishes.  Gary  :hatsoff:

Thanks. I tried a model with just a single centered strip, but it made the wallet hard to close and the cards access difficult. Like this, you can just flip the bills to the other side to access the cards and it's awlso useful when you know you'll need to pay a certain ammount, you can previously put it aside on one of the strips, without having to count the bills when paying.

Nicely done! :tu: I might make a replacement for my wallet (a credit card and ID holder, really) someday. Perhaps I should add a little room just in case I carry a little more than my ID, debit card, credit card, and copy of DD-214.

Nice work! Wallets can be a real pain to make but when you get it right you really feel the satisfaction from making it yourself.

Thanks! Being one of the items in your EDC you use the most, it feels great, every time you use it, to remember how you thought it and made it and how nice it works. It keeps ageing and looking more and more like an evolving item, gaining personality over time.

  :salute:
