Is it just me, or are EDCs getting simpler and more to the point, almost as if the whole subculture is getting more mature. Gone are the days of flashy, loose your pants, everything but a kitchen sink loadouts. Now it is more focused on getting smurf done, with maybe one addition of a toy item (spinners...). Even I seem to be going down that road.  :ahhh

For me it's about not wanting to lug about kit that I'm not using.  Now I freely admit that I could likely get away without the pocket knife and just use the small blades on the keyring stuff, but because I enjoy the pocket knife I am using it and so it makes it worth the carry.

I am noticing a segment of edc people slimming down their carry.  What I find is there are times when I just want to carry my fun stuff and while my reevaluated carry items are sufficient I still like to add in a shiny or three.  My focus for off day is much different than my work day carry so I for a day or two off I really am enjoying my reevaluated carry, 84mm Tinker, Fenix LD02, and some type of pry tool.
