How about a monster challenge?
on: May 04, 2024, 11:45:24 PM
Hi fellow knights,

what do you think about an monster challenge? You can use any tool if it has at least 7 layers.

Greetings,

ulzhan

I’ve tried carrying a SC before, and I really wanted to get comfortable carrying the Cybertool-M due to its fantastic tool set, but after much experimentation I have a pretty hard limit of four layers for SAKs I’m actually going to carry.

Also, my challenge schedule is pretty full for the next couple of months at least.

I’ll be cheering y’all on from the sidelines, though.

I'd observe from the sidelines, but joining in seems unlikely. I don't own any SAKs with more than five layers, and acquiring "monsters" is a low priority.

I have a SwissChamp somewhere.

So we need a lot of people with a lot of big SAKs. And a date when to start. Some years ago there was a challenge like this and it was great!

What do you think about July or August? Summer is ideal for getting a workout outdoors.

I'm fine with either month Ulzhan.  I remember that challenge.  It was the mega SAK carry, XAVT, Workchamp XLT, etc.  I loved following it!

As noted above, it makes no difference to me personally, but July would put you head-to-head with the Dean51 Traditional Challenge, while August is open AFAIK.

August is better then.

Let's rock that month. Everything from Champion and Cybertool L upwards is eligible. The biggest Wenger are also invited.

Who's gonna joining the fun?

Welcome aboard, Barry.

Here is my choice of tools for that challenge. I only use 91 mm tools, but other frame sizes are also invited. Just not less than 7 layers.

Thanks Ulzhan!  I'm limited to two Swisschamps, an early '90's model and a new black scaled one.  All of my other knives, including the Workchamp, are 6 layer or less.  I love the mighty Swisschamp so this will be fun for me.

What about a 58mm with 7 layers?  I'm sure I could build one by the time this challenge starts.

@otonka Welcome!

@Barry Even the Swiss champ has more than enough tools for 30 days. I'm looking forward to it:)

7 layers on 58 mm frame? Sounds crazy. I like that!

I'd be interested. I have a newlyfound SC (from a good soul in Finland  :pok:) that needs to be put to the test !
I'm not too good at the "take a picture everyday" part of the challenge; I don't really do pictures and often forget to take one everyday. I'll do my best if this takes off the ground.  :D

That thing down there is a Franken SAK. Got it by accident. Two scissors is overkill, so are it's three hooks. Don't know what it's builder thought when it got put together.

No problem. The SC is a very capable tool. It had a lot to offer.
