Crazy find at the swap-meet!

I was at a little swap-meet (flea market) yesterday looking for some cheap ammo. (i didn't find any :( )

I was walking along the rows of people selling their stuff.  It was getting hot so many of the venders were starting to pack up for the day.  I saw a guy with mostly junk that I didn't need, but down of the floor was a little wooden box with a MT inside. 
As I picked it up I noticed the unmistakable locking mechanisms of the Leatherman Pulse!  It was in pretty good shape. 

The guy wanted to get out of there and go home.  He told me he would sell it for $5 and it came with the wooden box!  I did my best to keep a straight face and I grabbed a $5 bill out of my wallet for the man. 


I only bought this because I know it is worth a lot more than $5 and it is a part of Leatherman History.  I had never held one before.  Now that I have had a chance to play with it, I can really see the appeal.  The locking mechanism leavers are pretty cool.  They sort of stick out in a weird way that later locking levers do not, (like those found on the Wave, Signal, Surge, etc.)  But they are certainly cool. 

The guy said he got it as a safety award.  (Hanson is a local Mechanical company)  I found this vaguely serendipitous because I work as a safety director for my company.  (also in construction, albeit not Mechanical)  The box and the MT have "Hanson" printed on it, and although I couldn't get it to appear well in the picture, the blade has "Safety, something you can LIVE with"  printed on it. 

I doubt I will carry this tool much, but it is a very welcome addition to my collection.

Very nice score!

You are lucky that the name laser etch is on the back side of the tool.

Proper etiquette  when sharing pictures  by of the Pulse and its big brother the ST200 is to remember to always photograph with the “Lock Side Up”. 😉

Another, item to share, is if you have trouble releasing the lock to put any implement away, just Delos any other tool part way and the lock will disengage and the close both at same time 👍
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Just FYI, that particular HANSON is a stone, sand and gravel, ready mix concrete, and asphalt company. They are world wide. I worked for them for about 15 years of my life (about 10 as a safety manager), and I'm QUITE CHEESED that my region didn't give out LM's for safety awards  :rofl:

He didn't really have the look of an HVAC guy...  So this information makes a lot of sense.   :hatsoff:
