I am not about to open this one as you can't re-seal it. Does seem like an ok kit based on its content list.

You should get another so you can open and display one of them.

Interestiong mix of stuff here. Oddly missing are bandages, and a piece of gun or some candy which are items that tend to be included in other similar kits I have in my collection. If you are in Canada, this one can be found at Princess Auto.

I like the idea of canning it for preservation and keeping things there until needed. But that has the downside that there is no way to put the lid back onto this pandora's can?

Nails in a survival kit? Maybe I'm overlooking a potential use for them, but they strike me as a rather odd addition.

Clearly they wanted to nail it?  Or is it for you to nail it?

I have no idea either. Not sure if that means the nails are weird for the setting or if that means I'm incompetent to survive.  :dunno:

Two things make me wonder why nails are included. I'd think at least a few folks wouldn't carry anything suitable for hammering them. And I've never been able to remove a hammered-in nail and keep it straight. Again, maybe I'm missing something. Or perhaps I need to work on my nail-pulling skills.

There was people living here 10000 years ago. I'm fairly confident they didn't have any of those things. This area gave them access to pyrite (sparks and fire) and chart stones for making knives and arrowheads and other tools. (Some where actually stylish - the one linked picture below is likely from here or northern Sweden and several thousands years old. I'm sure that would sell at premium price even today).

Anyway, point being, every single winter I look outside and wonder how people could live here even before metals were available. True survivalists for sure!

No idea why a pair of nails where included either. I gather because they are fairly small items and don't take up much space in the kit.  :dunno:

I suppose if you had to improvise, they could be used as a sinker, or tied to a piece of rope as a weighted end...
