Final step to open the Traveller

After carefully opening the traveller from the back, I'm in the last step to remove the pins. But I don't know exactly how to do it. Should I pull them out with pliers?

Thanks! I'm making a custom knife based on the Cybertool and I'll use the traveller scales on it.
