Leatherman ARC
on: January 26, 2025, 07:37:42 PM
Hello
I've Had my Wingman since 2021, awesome tool. Used it everyday when I was in the army, and still do.
My only problem with it is the fact that its missing some tools which is fine considering the price.
Thought about getting a new Leatherman and the one that caught my eye is the Arc and I'd like to hear some opinions.
I really like the one hand operation and the fact that the tools are on the outside is very very nice. Both of those features is why I'm thinking about the Arc and not the Wave+.
I also thought about the Free P4 but it doesn't have the bit driver and the super tiny screwdriver which I'd like to have as I do wear glasses.
The MagnaCut blade is also the reason I'm thinking about the Arc and not the Free P4. Only downside I see is the Arc not having a serrated blade but its fine, the MagnaCut "will do" lol.
Its $318 here, prices for LM tools almost doubled here (My Wingman was $70, now its $140).
Found a used one for $225 but its a 2 hour drive and idk if the warranty is transferable between individuals.
Also, is the warranty 25 years or for life? Some places here say its 25 years, some places here say its for life.

Warranty work is 25 years but they service and repair those over that period all the time. They are transferrable between people, users are users no matter who owns them. As for the Arc is my favorite Leatherman and it has dethroned my waves and charges. I love the magnetic architecture and the outside opening tools as you mentioned. It's the perfect setup and I recommend it over other tools, I can be a bit of a fanboy though

Fell in love with Leatherman tools ever since I got gifted my Wingman. I use it almost everyday. Can't really say it saved me because it was actually one of my main tools and not a "just in case tool".
Ever since I got mine and discovered Leatherman I wanted the Wave+. Always loved the design and the variety of tool it has and now after I've seen the Arc, its my new favourite.
It has a super high quality blade, tools are on the outside and its a one hand operation tool.
Ngl, the fact you can flip it open like a balisong is also cool. Its so much better than having to use both hands.
The fact these tools are bulletproof is also nice.
I think I'm gonna buy it and stop overthinking this.
Time is also valuable and I don't want to drive 2 hours in each direction just for $85. With gas and time, I'll just get a new one.

You may want to wait. There is supposed to be a new series of Waves coming out soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had the outside opening implements.

Interesting.

That’d be a pretty major re-design to still keep the Wave name.
