What blend do you use Whoey?  That picture of mine looks sloppy because it's a reheat from the other night.  I was eating it and remembered this thread.
Santa Maria chili spice blend. Plus some other generic blend I got from an import shop called "Normal" which adds a lot more heat.

Ok… i hope this is a good a place as any to ask.

I have a big jar of prepared salsa and a can of beans that has been sitting on the shelf unused.  There’s a pound of ground chicken in the freezer.

Would it be a mistake to dump all of these in a pot with a packet of chili seasoning and hope for the best?

The salsa and beans haven’t been used otherwise, and so  I’m mainly worried that using prepared salsa instead of tomato would make it taste like…. I don’t know…. Ketchup on spaghetti or on pizza.

I think you'd definitely have the strong taste of salsa, although the great thing about chili is there's no limits to what you can try.

It's sort of a drugstore/variety import.

Often you can find things you don't usually find in local shops by the same brands as available locally. IE products for other markets.

They often have products you can't normally get locally. Ironic with the name of the chain.

Im inventing my own chicken chili. This is an intermediate version of it, the final version will have yellow tomatoes once they are in season

Had leftovers from a roasted pork shoulder so I decided to make some chili.
This is not how I usually make chili, but I had this stuff in the house.
About 2 pounds of shredded pork
 one large onion coarsely chopped
1 can of kidney beans (drained)
1 can of black beans
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 can of tomato soup.
Lots of chili powder and Cholula hot sauce.

Whatever works... I  usually keep to more or less the same ingredients and amounts, but sometimes try with whatever is on hand

:iagree: although I need to expand on my recipes I think Whoey.  That's the great thing about chili!  I'm happy to see chili is alive and well in France! 🇫🇷🇫🇷

I prefer using pork over beef in long simmering dishes.

When we were in Belgium on holiday the best flemmish stew I had was using pork cheeks... literally melted away. We tried it in other places and trips where it was beef and it was a bit tougher and stringy.

Wonder if I could do some sort of  hybrid chili  flemmish stew (use some dark beer to stew the meat)...
